So after episodes 1 and 2 were extremely boring and generic, I finally watched the next two episodes, because I read from a lot of people that it will get better. Those two episodes were amazing. That’s the thing with RTD isn’t it, when he’s bad he’s really bad but when he’s brilliant, he’s amazing. It almost felt to me like this wasn’t even a drama, but a documentary with sci- fi elements. I mean it’s just the truth isn’t it?The human race is scum and will do anything and kill anything and anyone if it stands in the way of making a profit. Capitalism is superior to all lifeforms or different opinions. When the old guy entered the vessel I wondered what he is doing there, he certainly isn’t fit enough for something like that. When that globe starte glowing I was like " of course, it’s a suicide mission" .
I felt so sorry for Kate that they killed Colonel Ibrahim, doesn’t this woman deserve to be happy for once?
At the end of episode 4 how brilliant was that standoff! I LOVE Kate being badass, I could watch her being badass for days!

Interesting start of the series. Now I'm curious though: which species came first, Homospondyl Erectus (Homo Aqua), or the Silurians? Was hoping the latter would at least get a mention.

Well I didn't understand any of that ending.

If I do attach that weight to it, that it may well be a weird dying gasp of a frustrating, wobbly era slowly burning out, then, well, that makes me wish these five episodes of the 26-episode D+ order had, perhaps, been spent differently.
But no, I'm choosing to just have had a good time with a compelling sci-fi miniseries that happens to also be a bit of #DoctorWho. More random shows should also be Doctor Who. That would be good, I think.
I am *actually angry* about the time I wasted on this faffing faff.
Anyway. I dunno, if I separate this from it being the last bit of #DoctorWho for a while, I loved that.
I've always adored RTD at his most angry romantic, and this played perfectly to my tastes, while always feeling fresh. Had a good time.
(Love how much Kate just gets to be kind of awful, the mid-credits scene a beautiful button to her story here. Men get to behave like this all the time. Love this for her.)
Man can love fish, if only mankind could love fish.
Ooh, RTD did a proper ending.

I also wonder about, "the Doctor" doesn't show up, but what if Rose shows up in the Tardis, and we get confirmation that Billie *isn't* the Doctor? That could work in as far as answering why the Doctor didn't help out for any of this, if the Tardis lands and Kate's like "Finally!" and Rose steps out and Kate's like "Where's the Doctor??" and Rose is like "I don't know!!!" and everyone's all "!!!"
(I don't reckon it's this lol, and I still think I would prefer that Billie *is* a Doctor, but "oh shit the Doctor is actually *missing*" as a cliffhanger is something, it might help with a sense of direction to anticipating the return next Christmas.)
Thinking about that post-credit scene Russell's been teasing in this Sunday's episode.
Based on what he's said, I kind of don't reckon it's with Barclay or Salt. If there's a very definite ending I feel like their last moments should be before the credits. Which makes me think it might be Kate.
What I think would be a really fun scene would be Kate meeting Susan, but not knowing that's who she is. Like she's out in public and crosses paths with this odd woman, who randomly offers her comfort for everything she's just gone through. And then as she leaves, Kate's like "Wait, was that...?"
Another thought that's occurred to me is the idea that Shirley will wind up in charge of UNIT. I don't think Kate's gonna die, I think Jemma Redgrave hinting that that was a possibility was just to make the sniper moment work extra well. But with the way her character arc is going, I could see her deciding to retire. And with the brief moment in this series where she told Shirley to take command while she was away, it occurred to me "oh hey, it would be cool if Shirley was the next brig!"
I dunno, anyone else having any ideas about what it could be?
#TheWarBetweentheLandandtheSea is much better in these next two episodes, so far, but my god the flip of 'Salt' into a friendly character (despite everything that JUST happened!) is far too quick.
I'm not saying I didn't see this coming (it was telegraphed), but it feels like a lot in direct opposition to everything that's come before.
Maybe she was part of the conspiracy against her own kind? That might make that track.
Feeling reassured that I'll like the last episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea because it's an RTD episode and then remembering everyone else is going to hate the last episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea because it's an RTD finale
