March book club theme - ✨️ new ✨️ - March 26, 2026 - A lot happens in the fourth book of the Stormlight series. Sanderson is a great story teller, but a very long-winded one. I think there could have been a bit more editing of this one without losing any of the plot or character building. That said, it's still an excellent story.

finally finished #thestormlightarchive #book 5!

busy life so its taken me some time to read, but the ending was absolutely storming spectacular!

i'm not sure i will ever enjoy another author now that i've gotten spoiled by brandon's #cosmere. i've been on the hook since 2013 and finished the way of kings a day before words of radiance released. i didn't sleep for 3 days straight! its just so storming good!

i do try to read other authors every year but none ever come close.

Finished The Stormlight Archive, Built Another App

Finally finished Wind & Truth, to wrap up The Stormlight Archive for a few years (or 6). Absolutely loved the series, and recommend it to any fans of fantasy novels:

I also built an app to format ebook highlights into a few different… formats. It takes the raw output from the highlight exports and moves them into markdown, HTML, JSON, or text. I plan on using it on blurbos.com, so I just threw it up on a subdomain over there at https://format.blurbos.com/.

I might go back through the Blurbos archive and reformat them eventually. It seems like a lot of work though, so we’ll see.

Next book: Never Flinch by Stephen King.

Another Discworld book finished, number 21, over half way now. I loved Jingo, because it highlights the readiness people have to judge and "hate" each other if they're slightly different and because they're told to. Something that is, sadly, still too prevalent as when Sir Terry wrote it in 1997.

Might take a break from Discworld for a bit and try Brandon Sanderson's Storm light Archive.

While I still enjoyed this book, I found there were a lot of pacing issues in this one.

What's the deal with hating Shallan's chapters? I'm nearly at 50% of Words of Radiance and I liked all Shallan's chapters since The Way of Kings; they usually reveal a lot of interesting stuff related to worldbuilding. So, why do most people hate them?

I'm re-reading #BrandonSanderson 's #TheStormlightArchive again. It kept me sane during the lockdowns as I read about characters who failed and made mistakes struggle to improve. He churns out books so quickly too.

I finally finished The Way of Kings. I bought it back in 2020, and it took me this long to actually get through it.

I gotta say, I'm not a fan of how #BrandonSanderson waited 1200 pages to get to the point. I feel like he could have spread out the revelations throughout the book.

I still enjoyed it, and I have the rest of the books in the series already; I'm about to crack open Words of Radiance. I just think he needs to spread things out a bit.

Seems like introduction posts are the way to find one's people around here, though my introvert side has been procrastinating. It's one thing to talk about yourself when meeting new folks directly - we ADHD folk are often TOO good at that. But, to just blast a "THIS IS ME COME BE MY FRIEND" with a pile of hashtags relevant to my interests seems a bit...thirsty. But...ok, "When in Rome, etc"
My favorite things about the bird site were connecting with other neurodivergent / neuroatypical folks, getting book recommendations in scifi, fantasy, mystery, history, historicalfiction, ecology, science, and really anything else good. I like to read. I also loved seeing quality fanart come down my feed, poetry, and any other creative expressions from the non-famous, but crazy-talented masses putting themselves out there.

I have a couple of great kids, and a lovely husband about whom I don't share details in public forums. I try to get out into nature, particularly forests here in Eugene, Oregon, as much as possible. I'm trailrunning, slowly, and I have a dog companion who wishes I were faster. I love singing, and I play the ukulele (badly, but I'm getting better). I also have curlyhair, and the internet has been a lifesaver for that, so maybe that's a thing here too? Also baking, cooking, cake, hygge, mindfulness meditation, and more kinds of music than I can list in here (but ska might be my favorite, today at least).

I'm an LGBTQI ally, antiracist, progressive, feminist, atheist, and I give freemomhugs. I sometimes get things wrong, but I'm listening and learning. I can't stand a bully.

I am likely to get really excited and infodump if you ask me about Salesforce, Shakespeare, foxes, embroidery, The Stormlight Archive, or Muppets.

Whew! That's a lot! I'm kinda a lot some times, but so are most of my favorite people. Hi, Mastodon!
