THE MURDER CAPITAL
When I Have Fears
2019 UK & Ireland pressingMan, do I love this record.
I can’t believe it’s already 7 years old.44 SUPER-intense, hard-hitting minutes.
Calling this and lumping it in with other modern #postpunk music seems a bit disrespectful.
Because along with the abrasive guitars, thick bass and pounding drums comes a little more atmosphere, tension and claustrophobia.
No doubt a result of the involvement of the albums producer: the legendary Flood.A spacious, heavy, and emotional record that still sounds as impactful and exciting seven years on.
Just a truly excellent album.Start with “Green And Blue”.
If you like that, soldier further.#vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #vinylcollection #art #music #punk #TheMurderCapital #indie #alternative

THE MURDER CAPITAL
When I Have Fears
2019 UK & Ireland pressingA wonderful, gritty and intense #postpunk record that I’ve revisited fairly regularly since it came out.
And since today is dark, wet, and dreary outside, I figured this would be a good call to start my afternoon at home listening to music.
Ireland has given the world some ballsy, killer rock bands over the past few years, between The Murder Capital, Just Mustard, Sprints, Fontaines D.C., and several more.
Must be something in the water out there.
Keep it coming.
They’re all great, and right up my alley.#vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #vinylcollection #retro #vintage #art #music #ireland #TheMurderCapital #punk #alternative #indie

Tuesday Tunes: The 25 best songs of 2025
Listed below are my 25 favorite songs of 2025. Hope you get a chance to listen and enjoy them. Ten of the 25 songs are by bands from Ireland and 20 of the 25 songs are by women or bands with female lead singers.
*Three songs from the list below are tremendous in their advocacy. “True Believer” raises important questions about racism and religious hypocrisy, particularly in the American South, “Lesbian of the Year” celebrates one’s ability to truly be themselves, and “Love of Country” is a remarkable track that decries nationalism across the globe. All three songs remind us of how important music is in championing causes that promote peace, love, and understanding among all residents of the Earth.
Peace!

In conjunction with release of the song “Love of Country,” by the band The Murder Capital, from Dublin, Ireland they released the following statement:
“‘Love Of Country’ is a song about the dark side of patriotism and nationalism, and what they become when they are warped and weaponised. Across the world, we are seeing hatred of ‘other’ spreading like a disease. No claiming of land today is more barbaric than the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
In the face of, and beyond such clear acts of evil, it is more vital than ever to cherish the richness of our diverse communities and the power of human connection. We must stand firm against the rise of nationalist ideologies and speak up for those whose worlds are being torn apart by hatred and violence.
We are, and always will be made stronger by our compassion.”
Source: bandcamp.comThe band also noted they are donating all funds from sale of a special 7 inch edition of the single (which has sold out) and digital downloads on bandcamp.com to the organization Medical Aid for Palestinians.

The Irish rock music invasion keeps on rolling!
Source: amazon.comMuch like the British Invasion the 1960s and their second invasion the 1980s, 2025 has been a banger year for alternative, indie, garage, and post-punk rock music coming out of the Emerald Isle. This blog author’s favorite news song of the year is“My Favorite Monster” by Cliffords and my choice for best new album of 2025, Altar, was released by NewDad in September.
Among the rock bands from Ireland that are quickly becoming household names, are the following nine (presented in alphabetical order):
Cardinals – must listen songs – “Masquerade” and “Barbed Wire”
Cardinals – Source: clashmusic.com——–
Cliffords – must listen songs – All of them on their Salt of the Lee EP and the tune “Marsh.”
Cliffords – Source: nme.com——–
Florence Road – must listen songs – All of them on their Fall Back EP, plus “Storm Warnings,” “Break the Girl,” and “Miss.”

Fontaines D.C. – must listen songs “Favourite” and “It’s Amazing to Be Young”
Fontaines D.C. – Source: nme.com———
Inhaler – must listen songs (Bono’s son is the lead singer) – “You Might Get What You Want” and “Dublin in Ecstasy”
Inhaler – Source: variety.com———
NewDad – must listen songs – Every song, especially those on their Altar and Madra LPs
NewDad – Source: nme.com———
Pillow Queens – must listen songs – “Holy Show” and “Like a Lesson”
Pillow Queens – Source: pillowqueens.com——–
Sprints – must listen song – “Better”
Sprints – Source: spotify.com———
The Murder Capital – must listen songs : “Love of Country” and “Words Lost Meaning”
The Murder Capital- Source: thesuntavern.co.ukWhat’s really cool is the music isn’t just coming out of Dublin. Its emanating from across Ireland in places like Cork (Cliffords and Cardinals), Galway (NewDad), and Bray (Florence Road) too. Another special aspect about Irish rock is the inclusion of traditional instruments like fiddle, accordion, and trumpet into the music.
If you get a chance, check these and other terrific Irish bands out online or on your favorite music app.
Peace!

Doch statt diesen […] …

The Murder Capital on tehnyt hyvän kolmannen levyn.

The Murder Capital brings strong hooks and a mesmerizing flow to creates somber post-punk gems that tap into the darker tones of the genre.

The Murder Capital melden sich mit der brandneuen Single Heart In The Hole zurück; der ersten Veröffentlichung seit dem Erscheinen ihres zweiten Albums Gigi's Recovery im Januar (welches ich komplett übersehen habe, aber jetzt gerade höre).
