I can't say #TheCriticalDrinker is right or wrong until the movie comes out...
..but it has some good points.

It looks like this is a movie speared by Hollywood rather than Nolan itself. Who knows if it's a favor for someone at this point.

#TheCriticalDrinker is on point: this is a bet on financial power.

My bet? #AvengersDoomsday is going to show the industry that superhero movies are dead, no matter the amount of money is thrown to the screen.

Anyone holding onto the shibboleth that the Critical Drinker is part of the 'alt-right to fascist pipeline' - as someone here tried to tell me a few months back - needs to watch his latest video on the irrelevance of contemporary Star Trek. Where he specifically praises the role of characters like Uhuru, LaForge and Sisko as inspiring young people of colour to pursue STEM or leadership careers.
If that's subtle white supremacy folks, it's pretty goddamn subtle.

If the #TheCriticalDrinker has those kind of parting words for his review, it's because the show must be so atrociously, unapologetically, extremely bad.

"[In Falling Down] Bill... represents every person who ever fell down and couldn't get back up again. Every person who followed the rules and did what everyone expected, and got punished for it. Who did everything right and still got screwed over by a system that was stacked against them.
Who spent their entire life striving for something better, only to discover that they were 'not economically viable'."

I just noticed that The Critical Drinker is now publishing videos on PeerTube as well as Goggle's ThemTube;
https://review.peertube.biz/c/criticaldrinker/
Sign of the times?
FYI I like watching the drinker's videos for the same reason I like watching stand up by Jimmy Carr or Ricky Gervais; I want to be used to hearing opinions I disagree with, especially when its ok to laugh at them. Also, I might occasionally learn something (even a stopped clock is right twice a day, as they say).

"It's a classic example of South Park's ability to present both sides of an argument fairly, make fun of the most extreme and ridiculous elements, and suggest that maybe, - just maybe - there's a sensible middle ground to be found. Screaming 'woke' at anything with even a hint of diversity and progressive ideas is just as dumb and unproductive as trying to race and gender swap every character in sight."

"... the boys pointing out that they've got no problem whatsoever with a character like Miles Morales, who was created with his own unique personality and backstory. Instead of just being a lazy race-swap of an existing character. Hammering home the simple but often misunderstood point, that well-written characters who happen to be diverse are a perfectly good thing, that no reasonable person can object to."

"...I don't doubt for a second that there are some genuinely shitty individuals out there, and they should rightly be called out for their bigotry."

Anyone who has been told The Critical Drinker is a YT reactionary, who hates all movies that positively represent women or minorities, please watch his video recommending Everything Everywhere All At Once. A movie whose central characters are immigrants from China, including a lesbian daughter:
https://yew.tube/watch?v=FmnzpHu2Tjc
He criticizes movies that are badly made, and points out that diverse representation doesn't guarantee good storytelling, production, or acting.

The Critical Drinker was right about The Expanse, Andor, and Arcane, but dead wrong about House of the Dragon. It stinks. I gave it a second go because I kept hearing good things, including from reviewers like The Drinker. I struggled through the first half of season 1 and was almost, kind of getting into it, when suddenly half the characters turned out to be Timelords who regenerated into different people between episodes. Hard pass.

"The Expanse is also a perfect example of diverse casting done right. There are people of every sex and ethnic group imaginable, represented in virtually every episode and it absolutely never feels forced, preachy or contrived. Unlike the ham-fisted attempts of lesser shows that always come across as smug, disingenuous and mean-spirited."
#TheCriticalDrinker Recommends ... The Expanse

Congrats for Critical Drinker for 1 million subscriber. I know most people here doesn't really like youtube (and I am one them), but given the nature of his channel, I would say it is a quite an achievement!

He is an unusual movie critic, who not just talks some of today's movies, but recommend some old gems, and heavily critize modern Hollywood, for using the movies to force spreading
THE MESSAGE!...
(sorry I couldn't find the image)
Quote from wikitubia:
"Referring to corporate activism that plagues modern entertainment, accompanied with images of stereotypically far left material like Black Lives Matter, Planned Parenthood, Third Wave Feminism, Critical Race Theory, Antifa and Gay Pride. It's said with a booming echo for effect."
If one review I can wholeheartedly recommend is his Rocky review. If you like the movie, you will cry at the end of the review too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVvj84Va15I
Note, that it's before he fully adopted his "drinker" persona, so here he is talking in his normal voice. Which for some reason is understandable, despite he is Scottish...
If you are interested in movies, you should seriously watch him, especially if your knowledge of movies comes from Jeremy Jahns and Chris Stuckmann.
