I'm firmly on the folk side of the trad v folk music spectrum, but the undeniable skill on show here is immense. Absolute banger.

I’m disconnected from a lot of culture these days, so I had no idea why I’ve been hearing people refer to the song #RockyRoadToDublin all the sudden. Just found out it’s on the soundtrack of Michael B Jordan’s #film #Sinners. Good version too.
For what it’s worth, this is the version I know best. #TheChieftains with #therollingstones

The Foggy Dew, Sinéad O'Connor with The Chieftains
Perfect for tonight's theme.
🎵Their bravest fell, and the Requiem bell rang mournfully and clear
For those who died that Eastertide in the springing of the year
While the world did gaze, with deep amaze, at those fearless men, but few
Who bore the fight that freedom's light might shine through the foggy dew🎵 -
Musical Interlude: One last blast from the Chieftains! I love the opening of this piece.
"Seán Sa Cheo," performed by The Chieftains.

Musical Interlude: Another great track from the Chieftains, a track that makes me think of that unique space in early spring, with its mix of chilly weather and returning greenery & sunshine...
"The Fairies' Lamentation and Dance," performed by The Chieftains.

Musical Interlude: I started dipping into the Chieftains today, possibly as an early preview to St. Patrick's Day. Or just springtime, which their music always brings to my mind. I'm a little odd that way.
Anyway, I love their primal, down-n-dirty Irish sound, as opposed to those Celtic "folk" bands that play arenas and are very tanned and primped and have big backing bands and all that. Gimme something REAL.

Well I never: Roger Daltry of the Who singing Raglan Road with the Chieftains. He'll never be as good as Luke Kelly, but still.

Also for #StPatricksDay here's Irish Heartbeat by #VanMorrison and #TheChieftains
And here's Van and The Chieftains doing I'll Tell Me Ma (Belle of Belfast City) live at the Ulster Hall in 1988, with a cheeky touch of The Sash at the end:
