Challenge for this month of August: figure out how to use an #ATACarnet on a passenger train between France (Paris) and Switzerland (Zürich), and back.

Maybe some frequent #TGVLyria users can comment on the probability of customs boarding the trains?

Apparently on the Swiss side you have to "go do formalities in a customs office within 7 days" if there's no customs staff boarding the train. Can't wait to have to go to the airport to scan a QR code...

I am once again questioning some of my hobbies.

Heute versucht #TGVLyria Schweiz - Paris via SBB zu buchen. Zuerst werden CHF 24 angezeigt. Draufgeklickt, dann gibt man Details zur Person an, dann sind es plötzlich CHF 87. Eine andere Verbindung gewählt, Details erneut ausgefüllt, CHF 24 werden angezeigt, dann hat es plötzlich keine Plätze mehr. Die PDF-Tickets sehen nach SNCF aus. Nehme an, dass der SBB-Shop bei SNCF keine Tickets reservieren/offenhalten kann. Aber ist halt maximal kundenunfreundlich und wirkt so eher nach Beta-Software 🙃

🚄💨 This is my first trip with #TGVLyria! I travelled from Paris-Gare de Lyon 🇫🇷 to Zürich HB 🇨🇭 on the #TGV9213 in first class. For some reason, this train goes via Strasbourg, making the journey 5h 34min. I had lunch from #LeBistrot, and ordered the menu “en-cas” with a quiche.

We were traveling fast, but then stopped inthe middle of nowhere to un-board a sick passenger. Good I had to take the later EuroStar anyway, with a 20 minutes delay it would’ve been impossible to buy a #Navigo, take Metro D to Paris Nord and find the way to security for EuroStar

Boarded the #TGVLyria to #Paris for Leg 1 on my journey to #DocEng25. Leaving #Lausanne on time, only a few passengers

For whatever reason, I have a seat in the lower part and I travel backwards 🙄

#TrainTravel from Lausanne to Nottingham takes longer and is more expensive then by plane. #ZHAW has a program to foster ecological travels by funding additional costs. Thanks a lot!
