    > This is the theme of the INTERNATIONAL SEX WORKERS' DAY 2026.

    > TAMPEP calls for an immediate end of the stigmatization of sex workers! Together with sex workers across Europe, we ask for equal rights.

    > The working and living conditions of sex workers in Europe, mainly migrant sex workers, remain characterized by precarious circumstances. Discrimination, stigmatization and the increasing call for restrictive laws, particularly at EU level, are further exacerbating the situation.

    > Sex workers’ communities, worldwide, therefore commemorate that day to call attention and make demands.

    > Every June 2nd we celebrate one of the most important days in the year: International Sex Workers' Day!

    > This day marks the anniversary of the legendary occupation of the St Nizier church in Lyon, France, by a group of sex workers. They claimed the church for eight days to demand safety, dignity, and labour rights. Their bravery ignited a global movement that continues to inspire us every year.

    > International Sex Workers' Rights Day. Sex work is work.

    > We demand the full recognition, protection, and fulfilment of sex workers' labour, health, and human rights in law and policy.

    > Nothing about sex workers without sex workers. Sex workers are organisers, leaders, and agents of change. Their voices must be at the centre of all decisions that affect their lives.

    > We reject all forms of criminalisation of sex work. We reject the ongoing conflation of sex work with trafficking and gender-based violence, narratives that fuel stigma, increase harm, and strip people of rights and safety. Sex workers' rights are human rights!

    > Today, we amplify the voices of TGEU Board Members Tayri Fadil (she/her) and Alex Shah (she/her).

    > “Today we honour SWers leading the struggle. We demand full decriminalisation, labour rights, and legal protection for migrant and trans SWers. End police harassment and persecution. Solidarity, resistance, and collective power until we win justice and safety for all SWers.” — Tayri Fadil

    > “On this day, we amplify the political demands of sex workers for full decriminalisation, labour recognition, social protection, migration justice, and freedom from state violence, surveillance, and stigma. This day is a transnational call for bodily autonomy, intersectional justice, and the unequivocal protection of sex workers’ human rights. Sex workers are the ancient, present, and future of labour.” — Alex Shah

  8. CW: 🧵 ESWA Monthly March 2026 (4/10): Campaigning.

In March we have observed the International Sex Workers’ Rights Day,¹ International Women’s Day,² and Trans Day of Visibility.

For the Trans Day of Visibility, ESWA has joined the video campaign of TGEU - Transgender Europe and Central Asia, centering trans voices talking about the invisibilised aspects of their lives. To highlight intersections between sex workers’ rights and trans rights, sex worker’s rights activist Ines Anttila and ESWA Director of Communication and Campaigns Wszebor Sienkiewicz sent their contributions. You can see the campaign videos on TGEU’s instagram.

Thank you everyone who joined the premiere and live stream of the community video on what sex workers wish the world knew. Being together, even in this small capacity, made the International Sex Workers’ Day on March 3rd special. For those of you who missed the video, check it out on ESWA YouTube.¹

  22. Share your experiences in our new survey: Law Beyond the Binary in Europe & Central Asia

    What is the survey about?

The survey explores how people whose gender identity is on the non-binary spectrum experience the law, and whether they would like to see the law changed to better accommodate gender identities beyond the binary.

    Aims of the survey

The survey hopes to create a better understanding of how the ability (or inability) to access identity documents with sex/gender markers beyond the binary impacts the daily lives of people in Europe and Central Asia. Ultimately, by increasing knowledge and awareness – among policy makers, civil society, academic researchers and the general public – the survey aims to contribute to the work of developing legal systems which are more inclusive of people whose gender identity is on the non-binary spectrum.

  32. CW: EU, Trans life, news, hungary, non-binary, rights

Non-binary people, trans asylum seekers, and trans people in Hungary face even more barriers to healthcare in the EU.

In Hungary, the situation is dire.

There's a ban on legal gender recognition and supportive healthcare providers face immense pressure. (my note: we can't even change out name as name in Hungary is bound to gender marker in your ID, as a "male" you are allowed to take a name from the "list of male names").

Many trans people in Hungary are forced to put their treatment on hold or seek care abroad, paying for it out of their own pockets if they can afford it.

Many States exclude trans people seeking asylum until their claims are processed, or only offer care if treatment began in their home country, as seen in Denmark.

The official #TGEU #TDoR2022 list is out. I'm going through the data at the moment, and an initial update has already been uploaded to tdor.translivesmatter.info/rep.

It's worth noting that a handful of entries in the official list actually relate to earlier years. They are already on the site, so we filtered them out.

*Please* don't read anything into the raw numbers. What matters is the people we have lost. #SayTheirNames #TransLivesMatter #TDoR

    #Europe and #CentralAsia 2022

The map illustrates how #trans people are protected across different areas of life. The darker the colour the higher the level of protection.
