I’ve been using mutt (text only email client) for just over a week now. Is it better than a graphical client such as Thunderbird or Claws ? In my opinion, 💯. Is there a small learning curve? Yes, and it is worth it. I connected to Gmail to prune my mailbox, and I was able to identify and delete over 11,000(!!!!!) emails with so much ease, I felt stupid for not using it full time before. I’ve used pine and mutt previously, but not full time. Its ability to limit and display messages meeting simple regex, both locally and on the IMAP server, is something else. Thunderbird and Claws offer similar search operations, but it’s clunky. Text always wins - simple, elegant, and to the point; bitch, I’m in control, not you. -

I remember someone has published a post about a tool permitting to generate diagrams (boxes with arrows) in plain text. I don't manage to retrieve the name of this tool.

Sometimes I make assumptions that I shouldn't about open-source and/or free software availability that I shouldn't. I had always assumed that a pure text-only browser such as Lynx would be available in Apple's ecosystem. Closest I found was Mochasoft's Text Browser, but Lynx it ain't.

We would benefit from a text-only implementation of #mastodon or one of the other #fediverse ecosystems. This could make it easier for the average user to spin up their own mastodon instance, with fewer outages and less load on the fediverse as a whole.
