  1. What are the technical details of our Prometheus monitoring solution? 🤔 What are the different sources of the corresponding metrics? 🤷 And how does the ‘Node Textfile Collector’ work as a flexible solution for creating simple metrics? 🧐 Dirk answered all these questions in a blog article. ✅ You can find all the details and the full blog article here: nine.ch/en/blog/prometheus-tex 🔗👈 #prometheus #textfile #collector #blog #nine

  4. The #textfile that runs the #internet. For decades, #robotstxt governed the behavior of #webcrawlers. But as unscrupulous #AI companies seek out more and more #data, the basic social contract of the web is falling apart. theverge.com/24067997/robots-t #enshittification

  9. Well, that actually worked!... almost. #IFTTT did poll my #RSS feed and did save a #TextFile to #Dropbox. It didn't publish to my blog as intended, but that's (hopefully) just a matter of refining the IFTTT #applet. The turning point was figuring out that I had to set up Mastodon to allow IFTTT as an application. I learned how to do this via this blog post by @KelsonV /cc @tawalker @DedraWolff hyperborea.org/journal/2017/12

  10. @tawalker @DedraWolff FWIW I'm trying to do something similar--so far unsuccessfully. I created an #IFTTT applet that checks my #RSS feed for new posts with a particular hashtag and then saves the post content as a #textfile in #DropBox. In theory the text file would then publish to my blot.im #blog. But in practice the #applet is not polling my feed :/

  11. I noticed that crawlers sometimes look for an ads.txt file on The New Leaf Journal. I felt bad about them finding our 404 page instead of the information they were seeking. Not wanting to leave their bot hearts unfulfilled, I remedied the issue.

  12. Another reason to hate #Microsoft. I took data from a colleague’s #Powerpoint slide to put into a #LaTeX document. When I processed my file I kept getting errors and I couldn’t see anything with #Emacs that was wrong with the file. It turns out that the original file contained a #zero-width #Unicode character which I couldn’t see! The solution was to use od -c | less to spot anything untoward in my #TeX source #TextFile.
