My Tetramorium immigrans (pavement ant) queen has made excellent progress. Her larvae are now pupae. (you can tell because they are now ant-shaped with legs) immigrans does not spin silk cocoons as my carpenter ants do. The queen keeps them clean and safe as they develop— she is their cocoon.(look at the second photo to see the progress she has made in just one week)

So I'm just going to catalog it here in case anyone is trying to learn about this strange, creepy creature.
(these can be found as parasites in Tetramorium colonies in the US now, I hope to see one one day.)

OMG. who the heck is flying in NY today? Just saw majorly big winged queen alate on 145th street in Harlem too big for #tetramorium or #Lasius — but not a big #Pennsylvanicus queen either. She was dark brown and didn’t want me to get a good look at her since she flew away.
