Jaka piękna katastrofa – czyli Tesla na własne życzenie [felieton]
Czasem w historii technologii nadchodzi moment, w którym legenda przestaje być opowieścią o przyszłości, a zaczyna przypominać muzealny eksponat z tabliczką „nie dotykać”. Dzisiejsze ogłoszenie Tesla o zakończeniu produkcji Modelu S i Modelu X to właśnie taki moment. Samochody mające 14 i 11 lat rynkowego życia odchodzą… bez następców. Bez „one more thing”. Bez mapy drogowej. Bez pomysłu.
I nie chodzi o sentyment. Chodzi o brutalną prawdę: w branży motoryzacyjnej brak ciągłości rozwoju to sygnał alarmowy. A Tesla wysyła dziś sygnał SOS – tylko że nikt już nie jest pewien, czy to wołanie o pomoc, czy raczej PR-owy dymny granat.
Flagowce porzucone na poboczu
Tesla Model S i Tesla Model X były ikonami. Zmieniły percepcję auta elektrycznego: że może być szybkie, luksusowe, pożądane. Problem w tym, że od lat praktycznie się nie zmieniały. Jeden, może dwa kosmetyczne liftingi. Trochę większy ekran, trochę inne klamki, drobna korekta wnętrza. To nie jest rozwój – to konserwacja.
Dla porównania: Toyota Corolla – symbol nudy i przewidywalności – zmienia się całkowicie co 7–8 lat, a wcześniej nawet częściej. W międzyczasie dostaje liftingi co 2–3 lata. Nuda Toyoty polega na tym, że ona… działa. Tesla natomiast wygląda, jakby uznała, że skoro kiedyś wygrała wyścig, to meta będzie stała w tym samym miejscu na zawsze.
Bogatsza oferta konkurencji, uboższa narracja Tesli
Podczas gdy konkurencja – nie tylko chińska, ale i europejska czy koreańska – poszerza portfolio, segmentuje modele, eksperymentuje z nadwoziami, napędami i cenami, Tesla robi odwrotnie: zwija się do środka.
Gdzie jest obiecane coupé? Gdzie są „tańsze Tesle dla mas”? Gdzie są realne ciężarówki w sprzedaży flotowej? Tesla Semi ma 9 lat od premiery i wciąż tkwi w fazie pilotażu. To już nie jest „opóźnienie”. To jest wieczna beta.
A Cybertruck? Owszem, istnieje. Ale to bardziej performance art na kołach niż produkt, który można skalować globalnie. Świetny do memów. Gorszy do bilansu.
Roboty, robotaxi i PR-owe zasłony dymne
W to miejsce dostajemy… roboty. Humanoidalne prezentacje, które świetnie wyglądają na scenie, gorzej w Excelu. Narrację o autonomicznych taksówkach, które „zaraz” wyjadą na ulice – tylko że to „zaraz” trwa już latami. A gdy kurz po konferencjach opada, zostaje rzeczywistość: brak homologacji, brak odpowiedzialności prawnej, brak dat.
I jeszcze wisienka na torcie: płatny w subskrypcji lane assist. Funkcja, która u wielu producentów jest standardem bezpieczeństwa, tutaj staje się miesięcznym abonamentem. To nie jest innowacja. To desperacka monetyzacja czegoś, co kiedyś było obietnicą przyszłości.
Giełda widzi więcej niż scena konferencyjna
Coraz głośniej słychać też głosy analityków, że akcje Tesli są przehypowane nawet w 90%. Wyniki giełdowe nie zachwycają, marże topnieją, a sprzedaż samochodów przestaje nadążać za opowieścią o „firmie technologicznej”.
Bo prawda jest taka: Tesla wciąż zarabia głównie na samochodach. Nie na robotach. Nie na AI. Nie na robotaxi. Jeśli więc popyt na auta siada, a flagowe modele są wycofywane bez następców – to nie jest drobna korekta kursu. To strukturalny problem.
Elon Musk i strategia „jakoś to będzie”
Nie sposób pominąć roli Elona Muska. Wizjoner, który kiedyś pchał branżę do przodu, dziś sprawia wrażenie człowieka rozproszonego między kolejnymi projektami, platformami i wojnami ideologicznymi. Tesla przestała być jego jedynym oczkiem w głowie – i to widać.
Brak długofalowej strategii produktowej, porzucanie modeli bez planu sukcesji, życie prezentacjami zamiast cyklem życia produktu – to wszystko nie są cechy zdrowej firmy motoryzacyjnej. To cechy startupu… tylko że Tesla startupem już dawno nie jest.
Katastrofa piękna, bo przewidywalna
„Jaka piękna katastrofa” – chciałoby się powiedzieć, patrząc na to wszystko z boku. Piękna, bo nie nagła. Piękna, bo zapowiadana od lat. Piękna, bo wynikająca nie z braku pieniędzy czy technologii, ale z arogancji sukcesu.
Tesla nauczyła świat, że samochód elektryczny może być cool. Teraz świat nauczył się, że cool nie wystarcza, jeśli nie idzie za tym regularny rozwój produktu. A wygaszenie Modelu S i X bez następców to nie koniec pewnej epoki. To początek pytania, które jeszcze niedawno wydawało się herezją:
Czy Tesla wie jeszcze, dokąd jedzie?
Bo jeśli nie – to obojętnie, jak piękne będą slajdy o robotach. Rynek, jak droga, nie wybacza jazdy na autopilocie bez trzymania rąk na kierownicy.
