April 21, 2024 - Terry Anderson, the globe-trotting Associated Press correspondent who became one of America’s longest-held hostages after he was snatched from a street in war-torn Lebanon in 1985 and held for nearly seven years, has died at 76.

My third grade teacher had a board in our classroom that counted the days he was held captive and we all wore yellow ribbons pinned to our clothes every day. Either he lived or his family was in a suburb of Buffalo (I was in third grade, don’t kill my for not remembering that detail!) so he was always referred to as a local boy and we had to keep attention on him.
