I got three clay samples in the mail yesterday from my #ClayPal @archeaids and it prompted a round of sig making.

I dissolved each clay sample in water and sieved through 60 mesh, added a tiny amount of sodium silicate to deflocculate and now to let them sit. Over time, the coarser particles will settle to the bottom and the top layer will be a silky, refined decorating slip. #clay #terrasigillata #wildclay #ceramics #art #alttext

This is the piece I’m donating for the #KaaboClay Award later this month. It’s one of the first I made after developing my #WildClay #TerraSigillata surfaces. In making this type of work, I feel I’m bringing together my reverence for #nature and admiration of #AfricanDesign elements.
