certainly reveals the possibility of a very distinct #terran magnetic signature over time, were that externally measurable at a distance from another location

SLS isn’t even the biggest one! & the envisioned capacity is basically just thru TLI, usually pieces of 10-30 tonnes each. So that puts it squarely in sights of even 20-50+tonne commercial launchers (#FH, #Terran-R, #Vulcan, New Glenn, etc) using refueling, not to mention #Starship.

Eine gute Freundin erzählte mir, dass ihr Mann wohl von der Arbeit aus nach Spanien fliegen muss bzw. soll 😬

Sein Vorschlag einer #Zugfahrt als Alternative wurde abgelehnt: Das dauert zu lange und ist dann nicht mehr von der Arbeitsweg-Versicherung gedeckt 🤬

Bleibt dann noch die Variante, jeweils einen Tag vorher und nachher Urlaub zu nehmen für die Fahrt. Aber klimafreundlich ist so eine Versicherungsregelung natürlich nicht 🙄

In https://twitter.com/relativityspace/status/1638753739128315906 a statement on the #Terran 1 maiden flight tonite: "Today’s launch proved Relativity’s 3D-printed rocket technologies that will enable our next vehicle, Terran R. We successfully made it through Max-Q, the highest stress state on our printed structures. This is the biggest proof point for our novel additive manufacturing approach. Today is a huge win, with many historic firsts. We also progressed through Main Engine Cutoff and Stage Separation. [...]"

The maiden flight of the #Terran 1 was a success in the sense that the mostly 3D-printed rocket made it through MaxQ (the pre-defined minimum goal) - and even all the way to staging and 2nd stage ignition ... but only seconds later the engine went out and for good. So the rocket - no payload on board anyway, good thinking - made it into space but not into orbit, alas a lot was learned and the unique approach could have a significant future.
