Crowdfunding for "Terraforming Mars: The Legacy of Mars" game started today. Funded in under 4 minutes. The lowest possible funding option for the game is $110 US! The highest tier is a eye-watering $550 US! I don't know if this is an outlier or just now the boardgame market is going but that's a lot of money.
They make a big deal of how this legacy-mechanic is very re-playable but even so, you'd have to have a dedicated group for this. Maybe a group-buy?

Ostern mit einer Runde Terraforming Mars einläuten. Tatsächlich haben wir trotz vieler Partien bisher nie die inbegriffene Erweiterung „Zeitalter der Konzerne“ gespielt - bis heute! Und mein erster Eindruck davon ist echt super. Gibt viel mehr Spieltiefe zu einem ohnehin starken Spiel.
Ach ja, was passt dazu besser als ein Haselnusskeks mit Marmelade? 🍪

Yesterday's Terraforming Mars game was the first time we've finished a two-player game without all three awards being sponsored. Even though I didn't get the points for one of the two awards I did sponsor (we tied on Scientist), I did still manage a pretty solid victory for the Mining Guild.

Strange #TerraformingMars #boardgame moment: only needed one more temperature bump, but it was worth playing Deimos Down (which gives three) because I could pay for it entirely with otherwise-unused titanium and discounts, but an asteroid for the last bump would have cost money that I needed for other uses. This feels...abnormal. :-)

Resounding win at #TerraformingMars for me tonight. This is the most full we've ever seen the board. On the final round, I used my very last colored cube. This is also the most rounds we've played. We had a pretty slow start, but I had a card that let me sacrifice power plants for terraforming rating, and that proved really powerful.

Another two-player #TerraformingMars last night, and my Tharsis Republic city-building led me to victory with exactly 100 points. This was the most tiles we ever put on Mars, with tons of parklands added around all the cities. I just barely edged out my wife on the money production award, and that 10-point swing about made the difference between our scores.

Game night with friends;

Had a local company come by to give an estimate on long-needed house maintenance and beautification;

Walking with my sweetie at lunchtime after a big rainstorm.

(Game night was a "cards-only" version of #TerraformingMars. The #boardgame version is card heavy, and the new version still uses scoring tokens and cardboard counting tracks. From my point of view, the big change is that the card-only version is physically small enough that you can have 5 people play it on a normal table.)

Aprèm' jeu avec ma chérie… hop c'est parti pour la conquête de Mars ! Madame, à la tête de Valley Trust s'est orienté vers une bio-industrie lourde mais face à elle ma terrible Manutech, après un petit essai nucléaire peu fructueux à massivement investit dans le développement de la faune et de la flore au point que la moitié de la planète a finie couverte de forêts ! Égalité parfaite 53~53 entre les deux géant… mais départagé par la production titanesque de Manutech

So WHY does the quickstart feature combat rules, but not social conflict rules?

Can we really imagine, focus on nothing else than shooting each other?

Was playing #TerraformingMars with Turmoil expansion with my friends over the weekend.

Turmoil is the expansion that added political parties. Becoming the party leader (by having the most delegates in the party) gives you one extra influence.

So, we started to call party leaders "influencers" 😅 (e.g. "for my next action, I'd add one delegate to Unity party to become an Influencer")

I have this issue with many Sci-Fi or Space-bros. Last year we bought the boardgame "Terraforming Mars" (FryxGames). While it is indeed fun to use different technologies and resources for the colonization of the red planet and the mechanics are nice, the sociopolitical vision behind is so shallow/continouist, it dampens my joy a little bit.
