Aeroméxico estrena sistema automatizado para documentar equipaje en la Terminal 2 del AICM

La aerolínea incorpora módulos de autoservicio para equipaje, amplía iniciativas de sostenibilidad y presenta una edición especial para pasajeros de larga distancia.

Como parte de su estrategia para modernizar la experiencia de viaje, Aeroméxico comenzó a operar un nuevo sistema automatizado para el registro de equipaje en la Terminal 2 del Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México, una medida que busca agilizar la atención a pasajeros y disminuir significativamente los tiempos de espera.

La nueva tecnología permite que los viajeros realicen por cuenta propia el proceso de documentación de maletas mediante estaciones de autoservicio. El procedimiento consiste en escanear el pase de abordar, colocar el equipaje en una báscula automatizada y generar las etiquetas correspondientes, eliminando la necesidad de acudir a los mostradores convencionales.

De acuerdo con la compañía, la implementación de estos equipos podría reducir hasta en la mitad el tiempo requerido para documentar equipaje, especialmente en periodos de alta afluencia dentro de una de las terminales más transitadas del país.

Herramientas digitales

La incorporación de este sistema se suma a otras herramientas digitales que la aerolínea ha desarrollado en los últimos años, incluyendo plataformas móviles, servicios en línea y kioscos automatizados, con el objetivo de simplificar los procesos previos al abordaje y ofrecer una experiencia más eficiente.

La apuesta por la automatización responde a una tendencia cada vez más extendida en la industria aérea internacional, donde las compañías buscan optimizar operaciones y mejorar la movilidad de los pasajeros dentro de los aeropuertos.

Además de los avances tecnológicos, Aeroméxico dio a conocer una colaboración especial con las firmas FORMIA y NOPALERA para lanzar una colección limitada de amenity kits destinada a clientes Premier One que viajen en rutas intercontinentales. Los estuches, disponibles durante junio y julio, incorporan elementos inspirados en la identidad mexicana y productos elaborados con ingredientes de origen nacional.

Progresos relevantes

En materia ambiental, la empresa reportó progresos relevantes en sus objetivos de sostenibilidad. Entre los principales indicadores destaca una disminución de 11.49 por ciento en la intensidad de emisiones en comparación con los niveles registrados en 2019, así como importantes reducciones en consumo de combustible y emisiones de dióxido de carbono.

Asimismo, informó que durante 2025 utilizó más de cuatro millones de litros de combustible sostenible para aviación y que una parte mayoritaria de su flota ya está integrada por aeronaves de nueva generación, más eficientes en consumo energético.

El Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México (AICM) recibió los preparativos finales para la Copa Mundial de Futbol 2026 entre trabajos de remodelación aún visibles y escenarios que incluyeron posibles afectaciones por protestas y lluvias. La terminal aérea se mantuvo como la principal puerta de entrada para visitantes nacionales e internacionales. Las condiciones operativas concentraron la atención de autoridades y usuarios.

A inicios del mes mundialista persistieron labores de construcción en diversas áreas de la Terminal 1. Personal especializado colocó acabados, mobiliario y equipos en distintos puntos del inmueble. Las actividades continuaron pese a que autoridades federales anunciaron la conclusión de la primera etapa de intervención.

Durante un recorrido realizado en el aeropuerto se observaron elevadores fuera de servicio y áreas acordonadas. Los pasajeros transitaron entre espacios intervenidos y elementos promocionales relacionados con el torneo internacional. También permanecieron trabajos de iluminación, pintura y adecuaciones estructurales.

Remodelación bajo observación

En diversos pasillos y accesos se encontraron escaleras metálicas, conos de seguridad y herramientas de trabajo. Algunas cuadrillas realizaron labores de acabado frente a salas de espera y zonas de tránsito frecuente. La operación aérea continuó sin interrupciones mayores durante esos trabajos.

Frente al hotel Hilton permaneció estacionada una grúa utilizada para las obras de remodelación. Los usuarios circularon entre andamios, materiales de construcción y columnas renovadas. La imagen reflejó una terminal en proceso de modernización.

La remodelación contempló una inversión de seis mil 500 millones de pesos provenientes de recursos autogenerados. Los trabajos abarcaron áreas de migración, aduanas, salas de espera, sistemas de drenaje, vialidades y fachadas. La intervención también incluyó espacios destinados al reclamo de equipaje y pasillos de circulación. –sn–

I was one of the lucky test passengers pretending to board fake flights to stress test the terminal before it opened for real.

It's nice to be back and NOT miss my actual flight though, as during the testing phase, despite arriving on time, I missed my fake flight due to the way the queues and the systems crashing.
