All I want is to classify my #NES #Tengen games the same as my #2600 #Activison games instead of the same way as bootleg #SuperMarioBros on #SegaGenesis. Let bootlegs be bootlegs and let legit content be legit. And classify both accordingly regardless of region or platform.

I got in some game time with the #IIgs this evening: Vindicators! I had a vague sense that this was going to be a combat racing game in the same vein as Roadblasters, but I was way off. Sci-fi battle tanks!

@biogeo #Gauntlet was originally a licensed NES title produced by #Tengen (a subsidiary of arcade manufacturer #AtariGames), but then Atari figured out a way through the NES's lockout chip and decided to go the unlicensed developer route. There was a big legal hullabaloo, and as a result Gauntlet and #Tetris were stricken from the records as official licensed cartridges, and removed from later listings. (I presume that it's just "Tetris" in the listing, eliding which version of Tetris is meant.)

#tengen 's version of #tetris on the #NES was one of the first games I ever played for the system. I never owned it though.

Erste Tour dieses Jahr über den #Hegaublick nach #Hintschingen und über #Riedöschingen hoch zum #HelmutGroßPlatz oberhalb #Tengen und weiter über den #Postweg zum #Napoleoneck bei tollem Wetter. Allerdings ist aktuell wieder eine Zeit der krassen Temperaturunterschiede. Zwischen 8°C auf der nördlichen Schattenseite und 24°C im sonnigen Südhang war alles dabei.
Und last but not least liegen so viele Bäume (r)um, das ist echt krass.

I’m sure “the original #NES #Tetris" in https://www.thegamer.com/tetris-beaten-34-years/ refers to #Nintendo's 1989 release, but there were two prior versions: the rare #Tengen release that was recalled after four weeks because they lost the #console rights and the 1988 #Famicom release by Bullet-Proof.

Of course, the *original* original was written on a Soviet #PDP11 clone, but even before the NES it was already ported to many Western home computers.

On #MasterSystemMonday here’s “Ms. Pac Man”. This is a 1991 port of the 1981 arcade game, converted by #Tengen. This port has (slightly) upgraded graphics as well as different styles of maze to play in & a “boost” feature giving a burst of speed.
