Aisha’s earliest influences incorporated everything from Elvis and Sarah Vaughan to Billy Bragg and Northern Soul.
With a nod to the glamour and sophistication of a bygone era and over 25 years of experience, coupled with an unrivalled passion for the music, she now sings American roots music, Jazz, Blues and Rhythm & Blues of the 1940’s/50’s.
Equal parts sultry jazz chanteuse and Rhythm and Blues belter, Aisha easily communicates heartbreak, joy and a range of emotions in between, continuing to honour the tradition of the true Divas.
She has performed at many private events, including supporting Dame Shirley Bassey before King Charles at Highgrove.
Aisha combines outstanding original material with powerful cover versions and performs them all with class, soul, talent and wit.

Last year I chatted with Les Thomas about his ‘Man on Fire’ Release.
Les has a commitment to highlighting social issues with his music, and his latest release, ‘Ballarat,’ targets homelessness.
It’s a heartbreaking, yet all-too relevant true story of a young homeless couple who perished on a freezing Winter’s night on the outskirts of this historic town in 2014.
Upon seeing the news report, Les remembers being shocked at the loss of these young lives in the city where the movement for Parliamentary representation was born via the Eureka Rebellion.
“The gold extracted from Sovereign Hill literally built the grand buildings of Melbourne where I live,” says Les.
“I felt compelled to commit this story to song, because I don’t believe poverty should ever be a death sentence in a wealthy country like Australia.”

Steve Boyd’s Rum Reverie is essentially the brainchild of Paul Fiddes and Steve Boyd.
Not just collaborators but life-long friends (and former Steve Boyd & The Preachers bandmates), the project was conceived over many late nights of shared musings and listening to old vinyl records.
And what did they listen to? What amalgam of sounds ended up coalescing into Steve Boyd’s Rum Reverie?
Are you ready for the list? I’ll take a deep breath … The Clash, Ian Dury and The Blockheads, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Tom Waits, Captain Beefheart, Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Miles Davis, Bette Davis, Nina Simone, Burt Bacharach, Joni Mitchell, Eartha Kitt, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and everything in between.
The core group of Paul on drums and Steve on guitar and vocals is augmented by upright bass, brass and keys.
With a wealth of creative experience, their respective pasts intertwine in the music of the band.
The sound is heartfelt and raw, the influences primal and instinctive.

Eora/Sydney-based band Sir Archer have headlined capacity-rooms at venues such as The Lansdowne Hotel, Waywards, Mary's Underground and performed at Tamworth Country Music Festival.
They have just released a new single 'Heed The Call' – produced by the band themselves with Jackson Barclay.
The band says their songs are "often made without knowing what is on the other side and letting inspiration guide the process."
Commenting on the inspiration behind 'Heed The Call,’ they say "'Heed The Call' was inspired by an interaction we had with a stranger late one night who, in a moment of vulnerability, told us about the recent loss of his father. Through experiences, we grow and sometimes we wish we could teach our younger selves or even send a message of hope that time heals."
This moment formed the realisation that life happens quickly and time is fleeting. The song is their call to listen to those around you.

Ricki Wood is a singer songwriter from a small town called Maffra in the Gunai / Kurnai region of Victoria.
When he was eight, he took a shine to the National branded Organ in the lounge and his dad knew where the ‘middle C’ was and which note that matched on sheet music. His dad added, ‘you figure out the rest’.
It was at that age that he decided that playing music would be his life.
When Ricky was 13, the family relocated to New Plymouth in New Zealand and that’s where he made friends with a few guys who played guitar and from there he delved into anything and everything to do with learning guitar.
His early influences were old blues greats like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee and the Blues Brothers soundtrack, alongside stuff like Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson and all else that was 80’s music.

Kilo Band is a collaboration between Australian rock legend John Swan, well known under the name “Swanee,” and renowned producer/guitarist Mark Moffatt.
Glasgow-born Swanee is about as close to being "AC/DC family" as it gets.
He played drums in Bon Scott's early band, Fraternity, and took over on vocals when Bon left.
When his pal Bon died, John was one of the vocalists considered as a replacement, but he didn't get the gig.Just as a QI moment, John is the older brother of Jimmy Barnes!
Nashville based Producer Mark Moffatt, best known for punk pioneers The Saints' legendary "I'm Stranded," is one of the most experienced and respected producers to emerge from Australia, and also an accomplished musician, engineer and writer.
Mark honed his craft in London’s famous Denmark Street during the early ‘70s, the golden era of British rock where his work gave him the opportunity to learn firsthand from guitar greats of the day including Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Mick Ralphs and many others.

This Way North combine the flamboyant, powerful, and percussive drumming of Cat Leahy with the intricate guitar tones and slide guitar chops of Leisha Jungalwalla.
This Way North has previously been named Music Victoria’s Best Regional Act, with 3 EP’s under their belt.
They have continued their rise across Australia, New Zealand and Canada, supporting artists such as, Vika and Linda Bull, Ash Grunwald and Kate Ceberano.
Years on the road, touring in Australia and abroad, gave the two-piece indie pop-rock band an appreciation for open space and adventure.
But when the pandemic hit, they found themselves in north-east Victoria on Dhudhuroa country and traded freedom on the road for a home amongst ancient trees and high-country valleys.
This unexpected move, drawing in close and giving themselves the gift of stillness, prompted unbridled creativity and culminated in their upcoming debut album “Punching Underwater.”

She opened for Australian music royalty John Butler in 2019 at the Bendigo Blues and Roots Music Festival three months before releasing her full-length album 'Leave The Flowers' in February 2020.
Parry is influenced by solo artists such as Amy Winehouse and Hayley Williams, but has birthed her own commanding sound in songwriting.

She was inspired by Stevie Nicks’ 1976 version of Rhiannon, which she said “was the closest thing I’ve had to a religious experience.”
When she got writing, she had no intention of recording any of it herself, instead imagining herself taking the backseat while others sang her tunes.

James Howard is a Jaadwa composer and songman and has been actively working with music for about 15 years.
He’s doing a PhD through the Wilin Centre at the University of Melbourne, looking at ways to reconnect to an Indigenous heritage through arts practice.
James says, “I feel like the ambient soundscapes speak more to connection to Country and place, while the songwriting is more about this process of reconnection, being raised in a white Australian setting and coming to terms with what it means to be passing as white and Indigenous at the same time.”
That was his motivation for looking at identity and place through a sound lens, looking for a personal statement on how these reconnections can be made.
“The thinking about identity and place informs the practice, which then informs the thinking again, and it just keeps on developing. The same can be said about the songwriting.” He adds.

2023 marks the 40th Anniversary of Goanna’s 1983 song, ‘Let The Franklin Flow’ and the High Court Decision, on July 1st 1983, that prevented the damming of the Franklin River.
In 2021 Goanna’s lead singer accompanied protestors to blockade the road in the Tarkine that leads to the proposed mine tailings dam site.
Two years later, the protesters are still fighting for nature and for common sense.
GOANNA has now released their first new song in 25 years. The new single is called ‘takayna’, which is the palawa word for the Tarkine rainforest in North West Tasmania.

One of Australia’s finest songmen, Neil Murray, released a new album, The Telling, in April. The Telling contains some of his strongest songs ever. The songs mainly concern themselves with country, and care for country. “The Murrumbidgee” is an affirmation of perseverance and hope - despite environmental setbacks. The Telling sees instrumental contributions from Bill Heckenberg,(drums) Craig Kelly, (bass) Stephen “Stretch” Teakle (keys, accordian, clavietta), Damien Neil (mandolin, guitar), Jack Howard (trumpet), Shane Reilly (pedal steel) with vocal harmonies from Grace Robinson & Damien Neil.

Hi all, a quick #introduction from me. At this time of my life I have relaxed into #retirement and am working towards #senility.
Since 1976, I have been involved with #CommunityRadio, initially with 7CAE-FM in #Hobart #Tasmania, but I am now based out of #Geelong on 94.7 the Pulse with a show called Tempo, where I play such a random selection of music that the show is tagged as "guaranteed to have one track you'll hate."
If this is all too boring, I'm happy to discuss the #phenomenological #analysis of the #ontology of #literature. At your own risk!
