  5. A 4-in-1 Photoshop template bundle from Kristina&Co for Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest stories and posts. It combines bold retro color blocking, a playful cutout pack (hearts, spades, flowers), ultra-clean minimalist frames, and a hybrid retro-modern pack, all sized for standard stories (1080 x 1920 px) and posts (1080 x 1350 px), with fully editable colors, fonts, backgrounds, and images organized in labeled layers. weandthecolor.com/the-retro-an

  6. The Retro and Modern Instagram Story Template Bundle From Kristina&Co Actually Holds Up in Photoshop

To be honest, retro and modern Instagram story templates rarely earn a permanent spot in my actual workflow. Most bundles look sharp on the sales page and fall apart the second you open the PSD file. Kristina&Co’s Retro & Modern Aesthetic Stories Template Bundle is different enough that I spent three separate sessions building real graphics with it in Adobe Photoshop, not just skimming the preview thumbnails. That’s the review you’re getting here. Hands-on, layer by layer, with opinions I’m not walking back on later.

The bundle is available on Creative Market.

This is a 4-in-1 bundle built for Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, and it swings between two moods on purpose. One half leans into bold retro shapes and playful cutouts like hearts, spades, and flowers. The other half strips everything down into clean, minimalist frames. Four complete packs, one file, sized for both standard stories (1080 x 1920 px) and feed posts (1080 x 1350 px).

Is a Four-Pack Bundle Actually Worth Opening in Photoshop?

Short answer: yes, but only if you plan to use more than one of the four packs. I’ve reviewed template bundles where three of the four “styles” are basically the same layout with a different color swap. That’s not what’s happening here. The retro pack and the minimalist pack don’t just look different; they solve different problems. The retro pack grabs attention in a crowded feed. The minimalist pack calms things down when your last five posts already looked loud. Buying a bundle to get that range makes more sense than buying four separate template packs and hoping they match.

My prediction, and I’ll stand behind this: single-style template packs are going to lose ground to mood-based bundles like this one over the next year or two. Creators don’t post one aesthetic anymore. They post a rotation. A bundle that gives you a rotation in one purchase is solving the actual problem, not just selling a look.

    What’s Actually Inside the Bundle

Here’s what I found once I unzipped the files and started poking around in the layer panel.

The Retro Pack: Bold Shapes, Loud Color Blocking

This is the pack that photographs well in a screenshot but needs restraint in practice. Big color blocks, chunky type placeholders, and a confident use of negative space. It works best for announcements, product drops, or anything you want someone to stop scrolling for.

The Playful Cutouts Pack: Hearts, Spades, and Flowers

This is the pack that surprised me. The cutout shapes aren’t just decoration glued onto a background; they’re built as functional frames for photos and text. I dropped in a product shot and a portrait, and both slotted into the heart and flower cutouts without any manual masking. That’s a small thing, but it’s the thing that separates a template from a shape someone drew once.

    The Minimalist Frames Pack

Thin lines, generous white space, restrained type. If your feed already looks busy, this pack is the reset button. It’s also the pack I’d hand to a client who says “make it look expensive” without being able to explain what that means.

The Fourth Pack: Where Retro Meets Modern

The bundle’s real value shows up here. This pack blends the bold color sense of the retro set with the restraint of the minimalist set. It’s the one I reached for most, because it doesn’t force you to commit to one extreme or the other on a random Tuesday.

How I Actually Tested This in Photoshop

I didn’t just open the file and look at it. I built five finished graphics across a mock content calendar, swapped colors and fonts on all of them, and resized half the set from story format into post format to see what broke.

    Layer Organization

The layers are grouped by element type and named in plain language, not “Layer 47 copy 3.” That sounds minor until you’ve spent twenty minutes hunting for one background layer buried in an unlabeled group. I’m calling this a template’s Layer Discipline Score, my own shorthand for how fast you can find and edit any single element without a video tutorial open in another tab. This bundle scores well. Most layers took me under ten seconds to locate.

    Swapping Colors, Fonts, and Backgrounds

Color changes run through adjustment layers and smart object fills, so a full palette swap took about four minutes per template once I understood the structure. Font swaps are straightforward since the text layers are live type, not flattened graphics. That’s not always true with template bundles at this price range, and it’s worth pointing out when it goes right.

Resizing Between Story and Post Formats

This is where I run what I call the Resize Fidelity Test on every template bundle I review: take a finished story graphic, resize the canvas to the post ratio, and count how many elements need manual repositioning. On the minimalist and retro packs, I only had to nudge one or two elements. On the cutout pack, the flower and heart frames occasionally clipped a corner and needed a manual reposition. Not a dealbreaker, just something to expect.

    The Scroll-Stop Cutout Ratio

This is another editorial framework I use, not an official design term, so take it as my own measuring stick. It’s the balance between decorative cutout shapes and open space in a single graphic. Too many cutouts and a story starts looking like a scrapbook page. Too few and you’ve basically paid for a plain frame. The playful cutouts pack in this bundle sits close to what I’d call the sweet spot, roughly one dominant cutout shape per graphic with enough breathing room around it. Push past two or three cutouts stacked together and the composition starts fighting itself. I tested this by intentionally overloading one graphic with four cutout elements, and yes, it looked cluttered. Don’t do that.

Who This Bundle Actually Works For

Fashion and lifestyle bloggers get the most out of this, since the retro and cutout packs give them variety without hiring a designer for every post. Aesthetic-driven brands benefit too, especially ones that already lean playful. Photographers and portrait-based creators should pay attention to the cutout pack specifically, since those heart and flower frames are genuinely built to hold a photo well.

If your brand voice is strictly corporate or heavily photo-driven with minimal graphic elements, the minimalist pack is your best entry point, and you can mostly ignore the other three.

    Where This Bundle Falls Short

It’s a Photoshop-only bundle. Kristina&Co offers Canva files on several of her other products, but this one doesn’t include them based on what shipped in my download. If your entire workflow lives in Canva, this isn’t the bundle that fixes that.

The cutout pack also needs a bit more resizing attention than the other three, as I mentioned with the Resize Fidelity Test above. Budget an extra minute or two per graphic if you’re converting stories into feed posts.

    Final Verdict

This bundle earns its place in a working rotation instead of sitting untouched after one use, which is the actual bar a template bundle needs to clear. The layer organization is genuinely clean, the cutout frames function the way frames should, and having both a loud style and a quiet style in one purchase covers more real-world content planning than most single-aesthetic packs manage. My prediction stands: bundles built around a rotation of moods, not a single fixed look, are going to keep outselling single-style packs as creators post more often and burn through aesthetics faster.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is this bundle compatible with Canva?

No. This particular bundle ships as Photoshop files only. Check the product listing directly if Canva compatibility is a requirement for your workflow.

What software do I need to edit these templates?

You need Adobe Photoshop. The files use smart objects and live text layers, so a recent Creative Cloud version handles them without issues.

Are the templates sized correctly for TikTok?

Yes. The 1080 x 1920 px story format matches TikTok’s vertical video and story dimensions, along with Instagram Stories and Reels covers.

Can I use these templates for Pinterest pins?

Yes, though Pinterest’s standard pin ratio runs slightly taller than Instagram Stories. Expect minor cropping adjustments, similar to what I found during my Resize Fidelity Test.

Do I need design experience to use this bundle?

Basic Photoshop familiarity helps, but the layer organization makes this approachable for someone comfortable with layers, smart objects, and basic text editing.

    Is this a one-time purchase?

On Creative Market, template bundles like this are typically a one-time purchase or included through a Creative Market membership that bundles multiple assets together.
