  3. On human government timescales, this is very long term planning.

"A restorative programme run by Ulster Wildlife is working hard to bring ancient woodlands back to life over the next 100 years.

Also known as the Atlantic or Celtic rainforest, it is one of the UK and Ireland's rarest, most biodiverse and most threatened habitats."

  7. I’d love to meet a #climate change #denier in a blisteringly hot, muggy and dark alley for a Word.

Had my windows wide open because #Vermont summers remain relatively #temperate at night and the fresh air is good for the soul.

Woke up shivering my scrawny ass off. It’s been in the 40°’s for a while now and feels more like March than the tail end of July. And it’s not even going to reach 70° all day.

During the heat roast in June our “feels like” factor brought us to 101°, by contrast.

  9. How does leaf litter decomposition change through the seasons in temperate streams & forests? Cereghetti & Altermatt tracked microbial and invertebrate decomposition across a full year, revealing how timing, temperature, litter quality & ecosystem type shape this key process!

  11. @Joseph I'm into #syntropicagroforestry and currently working with a system that includes two 15 month old rows and three other rows which I've had to reset due to drought. I'm in a #temperate (Mediterranean) climate in Australia. How about you?

Bracewell et al. find a latitudinal gradient in successional dynamics: tropics are highly stochastic, and temperate zones show clearer progression influenced by early colonizers. This reveals biogeographic variation in community development.

  15. Lai et al. demonstrate that statistically strong (or weak) higher-order biotic interactions among temperate forest trees could be biologically irrelevant (or significant) depending on interactions in average or more extreme environments. Read now!

The sunlight filters through the towering trees, casting a warm glow on the forest floor In the distance, the twittering of baby birds can be heard Lorenzo Menendez captures the elegance and aturality of the wild...

  18. @jackofalltrades

Out of all the scenario's presented, "only Denmark was able to do it."

We can suppose that Denmark, which has a #Temperate climate and is surrounded by a lot of water, has a *lower* need for Air Conditioning.

This would contribute considerably to the contrast with
    China and US.

Is there any way to determine correlation between your data and the rising energy usage in HVAC, as a "solution" to dealing with the recent and continuous rise in Global #Temperature, I wonder?
