  1. FLUENT IN SILENCE

    Silence has many forms.
    Sometimes it protects.
    Sometimes it connects.
Sometimes it carries what we are not ready to say.
And sometimes -it becomes the very thing that harms us.
This collection explores silence not as absence but as language.
A language learned, inherited, shared and,at times reclaimed.
These poems are not just about what is unsaid, but about what silence holds-love,fear, memory, power and choice.
    -Nandipha Chibwe

  2. As the crackdown on anyone who seemed #different intensified, Professor Xavier's students were forced to find new ways to identify where they could safely meet.

  3. It's not a gherkin. Built like an apple corer to extract the City's dark heart, all that selfish greed, yet leave #London's thousand thousand loves, tales and nations, flowing down the Thames.

Never reached the heart, bounced off an impenetrable shield of privilege. So they put offices in, and called it a #gherkin

  4. "Oh, you again, Daddy mentioned you! Well, looks like you don't have a choice this time - the unimaginable is coming right this way!! HOW FAST CAN YOU RUN?"

This time seen near the #RiverLea between #Hertford and #Welwyn

  5. As I quickly glanced left, for a moment I thought the lit buildings were huge pillars holding the night #sky above me – a highway to… somewhere.

Then I realised that Night's Bridge is by Hyde Park & I was approaching Loughborough Junction, so the moment passed.

  6. Occasionally I wonder if I could popularise a new form of #divination based on the shuffling of #desktop images - a backgroundomancer.

Looks like I have a portentous (and nature-filled?) weekend coming up!

  7. Will loved spending his evenings down by the #docks with her, the views were lovely, watching the planes land was cool, they could talk for hours about anything and nothing. So hard to find that nowadays.

She was a #ghost - died 20 years ago. But he didn't care.

  8. People speak of the '#dark heart of the #city' as a #metaphor for the rat race and concentration of power
But that's because they have not stood before it
Have not heard its piston thump, buildings shaking and taxis swerving in sync with it
Be glad you haven't seen it
    It's better that way

  9. Now we are some weeks from #Christmas I feel it is safe to ask - what sins did little #Robin commit, that dyed his breast forever #blood red?

  10. In a world devastated by climate change and social fragmentation, our only hope is to reach out to #ancient and #abandoned powers to save us, hope they can restore what was lost.

  11. #WrongLondon doesn't do charming 'appearing and disappearing' #magicial shops. It does malingering #abandoned warehouses, which elbow their way in between other buildings.

Never knocked down, just… gone, before that happens.

  12. If you ever catch a train from #Waterloo platform 1 & feel a bit of a chill, don't be surprised - the #London #Necropolis #Railway branch line heard about those trains without passengers & decided to run their own. No, you won't see anything—they're #ghost trains after all.

  13. Life is an #adventure – you never know what you'll see next!
The world *is* the largest #dungeon – no one gets out alive, and have you seen how many different levels there are?
Therefore, if you go far enough & put some points in #perception — you might just encounter a bit of #magic

  14. When #Heathrow airport's 3rd runway construction began, #spacetime got weird — concrete started to float!

Baffling – until they realised the mystical river wardings protecting the airport on three sides had been breached! Worse than the last time too – which had resulted in having to lift the Picadilly line over the River Crane!

  15. #GamesWorkshop's decision to announce the new #Ork heavy assault vehicle with a publicity stunt at Heathrow Airport surprised everyone.

Took weeks to get the bloodstains out of that skip…

But enough of that! My young apprentice, the #Jedi Master of #Millwall has stirred from his Den - DESTROY HIM!"

  17. Hello, is that Mary #Christmas? And I understand Bob the #Snowman's husband might be there too? I'm sorry but… there's been a terrible accident."

  18. Walking past a #graveyard on #ChristmasEve and ignoring the lights that try and lure me within, and the alleys and stairs which say "Just a few steps, come and see what's at the top…"

  19. Then going to a party the next night, number nine brushed past me whilst I was grabbing kebab meat and chips.
… folks, if you want me to come to your meeting, send an invite, or at least *ask*?

  20. Walking home from a Saturday gig, the #foxes seemed in SUCH A RUSH!! 1 through 4 just zoomed on by.

Number 5 though - kept on stopping looking back. 6 & 7 paused, but had somewhere to be. 8 just cherry-knocked one of the houses and scurried away giggling.

  21. You're walking through an alleyway when suddenly…a #tree leans over the fence? No, not a tree – a #dragon with wooden flesh. She asks you where her forest grove has gone—only fell asleep for a century or so. Can you help her find it?

  22. One gate stands open, friendly, welcoming.
The other closed, steadfast blocking, confining.
    Look carefully at their signs

A babbling creature there was confused why I found this pairing so compelling. Bade me promise not to reveal the location of its lair…

  23. I thought it was strange seeing horseshoes on so many houses when walking the Roxbourne.
    Should I be worried?
… then I realised my camera had stopped working there, 'til I got to the park where the #river flowed freely amid the grass and trees.
    Should *they* be worried?
