I installed #fedora #kde on my 10 year old laptop over the weekend. It was easy, and I am happy to get away from Win10 and on a secure OS. Trouble is, it stopped booting today. It goes directly to BIOS. Nothing shows up in the boot options. I tried inserting the USB that I installed Fedora from and that doesn't show up as a boot option. I'm considering replacing the SSD for about $100, but am concerned that it won't work and I'll be out the money. I'm fairly savvy with tech but I would like some people with more experience to give me some guidance.

If USB doesn't show as a boot option, is my system cooked? If I get a new SSD, and that shows up as a boot option, can I still install from the USB? What else can I do to troubleshoot on the cheap?

long shot for any macOS gurus (please boost).

I have been having issues with apps remembering last used location in open and save dialogs. Also the ability to drag a Finder folder into and open or save dialog seems to be broken for me - this was very handy to use to quickly navigate to a folder. Googling seems to be fruitless (no surprises there).

Any ideas on how to nuke some setting or prefs file to restore these handy features?

Tech question. The small charity I support has a scan snap Fujitsu scanner S1300. Support for this machine is discontinued. I have found and downloaded a driver but I can’t get ScanManager to work. Is there a good generic/open source solution? My Pc is on #Windows10

Anyone out there with a FreshRSS install got any tips on solving this issue? It started happening about a week ago and I can no longer login. I just have a CPanel host and haven't touched anything in there (especially not database stuff) for a few months so not sure what could have triggered it. I can't see anything that looks obviously wrong if I login to my CPanel, but database stuff is a little out of my experience. #FreshRSS #SelfHosting #TechHelpNeeded

Hello!
I'm hoping someone can help to steer me in the right direction.
I am unable to see videos from comicsands links posted here. I am using Firefox on my android device. In an attempt to de-google, remove anything AI, remove tracking and so on, I may have disabled or blocked the wrong things.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

So my suspicion is that #Phanpy was somehow corrupted.

I'm not sure, however, if that's a symptom of a deeper issue, or the root cause itself.

I tried the gdrive kioslave (using Dolphin under KDE), but it fails because --

Searching Synaptic, the only thing with "gdrive" in it was that kioslave, which (of course) I installed. DDGing for information about this finds very little, and a lot of what I find is wrong or outdated, and none of it mentions the gdrive protocol. The instructions for the kioslave seem to think It Just Works.

(Google's desktop client is only available for WIndows and Mac, and the Windows version won't install under WINE.)

I'm using the latest Kubuntu (24.10).

@Harena is trying to offload a bunch of stuff from her #GoogleDrive in order to free up space, having almost used up the 15GB free limit -- but even after deleting a bunch of stuff, it only freed up a few MB and we're trying to figure out what's going on (and also it would be nice to have a more friendly file-oriented UI for doing this).

Hey uh, #PCbuilders, dumb question.

This laptop takes its m.2 SSDs in caddies with an interface adapter. If I put an NVMe drive into bay 2 it complains about... PCIe storage in bay 2/3, fair enough.

If I remember correctly it's NVMe m.2 that has only one notch (M key) and SATA that has two (B+M key), which therefore means I can put a SATA m.2 SSD in where an NVMe m.2 SSD resides.

Am I wrong, or

I downgraded my plan (I'm low income) and 🪟s notified me I'm out of storage. I selected "store on this device only" on the documents folder and deleted the onedrive documents folder. Can anyone help me find the name of a mouse function so I can replace my broken one? My current has a smooth, not clicky mouse wheel on rotate. The one I'm using as back up has lots of clicks. How do I assure the mouse I buy has a smooth scroll?
