Does anyone know of a good TeamTalk server or telephone chatline for the blind, preferably for adults? I know of the Blind Cafe and Out of Sight, but those are family-friendly. I am not necessarily seeking something explicit, though I'm not against it either. I just feel more comfortable around my fellow adults. However, since I love seniors, if I would be allowed on one of their sites or lines (I am only forty-two) that would be great! If you know of one but it's not for the blind, feel free to include it as well. Please note that I have no interest in Discord, Whatsapp, etc. as I don't use those. I would, however, be willing to try irc, even though that is strictly text-based provided I can find an accessible client. I know the old Accessible/Freedom Chat was good, but it only worked on their servers.

It happened. I switched, to a Macbook air15, m4 from 2025.
1. The system just seems super cool, and I like the navigation for most parts.
2. There are just those few nice features like it telling you the time every hour, voiceover being able to use the trackpad via more or less iPhone gestures, etc.
3. Speakers, and battery, go really through the roof. I've been using the thing for a little more than 2 hours now, and it only used up 10%.
4. Using iPhone apps: I haven't tried this with many, but I've been told that #teamtalk works well. I myself have tested it with #ramblio. It's not bad.

Now I just wonder how to customize the desktop, so like, if something close to shortcuts to apps in the apps menu exist, the doc, etc. Let's hope I find out sooner than later. But then there's also the thing when it says actions available. How to access those? Or when navigating between links, heddings etc, I pretty much just use the trackpad roter because your default nvda commands won't work there, also not when holding down the voiceover key.
For my first half day with it, I'm more than happy though.

Есть такой проект, называется #TeamTalk.
Это по типу тимспика и mumble, но только никому не нужный кроме незрячих по всему миру (там очень хорошо реализована доступность).
И для него есть такая штука как #TTMediaBot; позволяет прямо в комнате слушать музыку из ВК, ЯМузыки и Ютуба.
И вот с ютубом начались проблемы, у народа массово сыпется код, связанный с поиском и плейбеком видосов.

Я посидел, поискал, и выяснил одну крайне неприятную хрень: на просторах гитхаба не осталось живых библиотек для поиска на ютубе.
youtube-search-python официально закрылся в 2022, fast-yt-search примерно в то же время сдох, но уже неофициально.
А подававший надежды aiotube вроде как развивается, но попытка его заюзать приводит к каскаду ошибок.

Ситуация безумно грустная, ибо чё делать-то?!!

Для C# либа конечно развивается, в отличие от Python, но агрессивно стоит за украину и для русской локали требует писать в env "fuck_russia=1" или "slava_ukraini=1", за что автора уже ебали репортами.

Hello, #TeamTalk users. I'm configuring a private encrypted server. Can I set up Bearware logins for only specific Bearware accounts while disallowing guest Bearware account access? When Bearware accounts first came onto the scene, this seemed not to be possible. Has this changed? Is there another way of accomplishing this which I am unaware of? #TeamTalk works on Linux but sucks a lot, lags, hangs and sometimes can crash your audio.
So prepare a script which will kill all TT processes and restart your audio stack and assign some global hotkey to it.
It happens rarely but happens.

#Discord is also accessible as it is just an #electron app. Sometimes you have to pass some cmd args to it to have access to accessibility but it works.

#Steam doesn't work at all. I mean accessibility. Neither in normal, nor in big picture mode it just stays silent for #Orca and there's nothing to do.
They've fixed it at some point but for now it's broken again.

I didn't find any #Mastodon and #Telegram clients which are accessible, so I have to use web versions. Not the best choice, but the only one available to us.
Or I don't know something.

Standard mate file manager is good but #NNN is also a good choice if you are okay with terminal UI software.

And finally #neovim or #nano as an editor. Or #Pluma if you want gui.

lol #TeamTalk v 17 is pretty nice. You can even hear their live typing sounds when someone dm's to you. Fancy fancy.

La puta madre. Me quejaba de que en #Android el #Teamtalk no se ponía en privado estando siempre en altavoz, y ahora en #iOS está sí o sí en pribado, pero se escucha demasiado bajo el volumen del Voice Over, y se hace inusable. La única forma es con audífonos pero, no puedo usar los míos ahoita.

What #webhosts do #Blind people in particular like these days? I'm not looking for something I have to manage entirely by myself, as I'm not very technically advanced. I'd like to have something where I can host my current #TeamTalk server that isn't TTHub, as well as my #WordPress powered blog that I can build on with relative ease. I'd like to be able to reach out to someone if I'd like something particular set up and am not able to do it by myself due to limitations in my technical knowledge, but I'd like the management interface to be accessible enough to work with for those things I can figure out and/or set up myself.

@simon What about the #Teamtalk scene? As I was more involved in the international blind community, there were lots of servers active. Retired a bit from the hustle there, but it seems worth investigating again.

About how long does #TeamTalk's BearWare.dk registration system take to actually send an e-mail verification? I've tried registering with 3 different e-mails and am getting nothing from them in e-mail.

Und dann kam Corona. - Und was machten wir? Wir trafen uns zur Wochenhitparade und zum #Jahresfest über eine Konferenzsoftware, nämlich #TeamTalk. Wir haben uns einfach nicht trennen lassen.
