  1. After almost 9.5 hours of sleep, I got out for a run. Temperatures were rising sharply, so I left my jacket at home and joined #TeamShorts (looking at you, @WTL ). While #Running , I felt so good, I just added four more kilometers to my run. Weekends are just awesome! #applewatchultra3

  2. Tuesday #Workout:
    200 seconds of plank
    11 minutes of yoga for runners
    20 minutes of strength training
    20 minutes of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
    26 KM of #Cycling (-1°C, -5°C Windchill, 61% humidity, and 13 km/hr wind)

    The strength and HIIT workouts felt hard today.

    It was a chilly ride (especially on #TeamShorts), and I got to see something amazing - a young squirrel get caught by a raptor of some sort (#NotABirder) and taken away. Will have to see if the bike camera caught it.

  3. Monday 22 km ✅ Figured it was worth a shot at a longer run to see. Generally a good run, lots of folks out getting steps in, with just enough cold rain to be annoying. I think I probably need to take it frustratingly easier for a bit longer.

  4. Monday 22 km ✅ Wide mix of conditions from cleared paths, slushy paths, heavy snow paths, and variations in-between. Pretty nice morning for it too.

  5. Friday 24 km ✅ Everything looks beautiful when it's covered in snow. I really feel runs like this in my hips - sloshing through all the snow is *tough*.

  6. Friday 22 km ✅ Hit 200km for January on today's slog of a run. Huge dump of snow meant everything was a struggle, even if I love running in snow. At least the -10°C windchill meant I was back on #TeamShorts, even though I also ended up on #TeamBeardIcicle. 😜

  7. Monday 22 km ✅ Windchill of -9°C meant I was back on #TeamShorts, which made me happy. Good run, and I got to poke around the Chaudieres Falls area now that construction work changed a bit so I had a clearer view of where I could go. I did something to my left ankle around KM 16 or so, probably crossing the uneven snow/ice boundary. I'll nurse it and see how it goes. Mondays!

  8. Friday 22 km ✅ Real slog of a run, powdery snow on top of ice in many places, plus seriously distracted by the LRT stuff between Lees and Hurdman (lots of start/stop/walk/looking). Otherwise, the temperature (-6°C) was great and I enjoyed myself (I do seem to enjoy the slogs, truth be told).

  9. Monday 24 km ✅ Strava crashed 3km in, fortunately my watch kept track. I decided to tack on a few extra KMs to make sure I hit the half-marathon distance. Tough run, probably due to all the junk I ate yesterday. Fortunately, the amount of available junk is rapidly dwindling. My Apple Watch (S5) gave me an award for the half. Curious to find out if that's a one-off or an each-time thing. 😛

  10. Friday 10 km ✅ Quite possibly the most challenging run of the year. Started off by shovelling wet snow for over half an hour, then off into the 50 km/hr winds with gusts to 75, w/ heavy, wet snow, and then it started raining. Exhausted.

    On the positive side, with this run, I hit my target for the year: 5,000 KMs!

  11. Wednesday 10 km ✅ A really tough run today as I'm recovering from a spot of food poisoning yesterday. Welcomed the shortest day of the year (and winter solstice) by getting my steps in.

  12. Monday 12 km ✅ The number of snow people continues to rise along the route. I'm not sure if/when they'll launch an invasion, but with a storm looming for the weekend, we should all prepare. So far, I've been able to outrun them all. Having no legs really seems to cut down on their ability to pursue me. 😛

    Blowing, heavy, wet snow? ✅
    Wind gusts to 50km/hr? ✅
    Largely uncleared paths? ✅
    Shoes caked in snow with wet socks? ✅
    Would I do it again? ✅
    It was a fun challenge and my heart didn't explode from the effort!

  15. Monday 22 km ✅ Great way to start the week. Running in snow is a lot like running on sand that can also be slippery. Wind chill started off around -9°C, then fell to -13°C.

  17. Wednesday 18 km ✅ Foggy and misty run. Pretty good route, except for the MacDonald Cartier bridge crossing, which is really noisy, as is the section along Wellington Street to Bank. The path at the base of Parliament hill is closed for construction. :-/
