  1. I am _still_ riding the high of running our Trick-or-Treating table tonight. We got a bunch of compliments, and several people got excited to join the #TealPumpkinProject in the future.
The yard signs we put out seemed to work, because we were even busier than last year, and a few people mentioned having seen them.

It was an exceptional night, and the community response was so joyful. I'm already looking forward to doing it again next year.

  2. The toys for our Trick-or-Treaters have arrived. In combination with a few treat items which are free of the top 8 allergens, we should have a really good set of options for #TealPumpkinProject

  3. Getting ready for Halloween? 🎃👻🍬

Candy is great, but for kids with food allergies, managing allergens at every turn can feel like a minefield, and passing up treats can cause feelings of exclusion.

Consider joining the Teal Pumpkin Project! Put out a teal pumpkin and have non-food alternative treats available for any trick-or-treaters who may have food allergies. 🧡🖤🧡

  4. My ducks...

So, I got my ducks in a row... In order... On order... Well, received them today.

These are for my participation in the Teal Pumpkin Project, something I found out about like 8 years ago, and have participated in every year since then. While I've offered a number of non-food items in the past, last year was the first year I did ducks when I found out you could buy a 30 count box of them. They were popular with the kids, we offered pick 2 ducks or get 4 pieces or so of candy, and most kids picked ducks. While 30 was enough last year, it was close, so I bought 100 this year.

Definitely not allowing them to choose, can you imagine how long that would take? But yeah, two ducks or candy once again.

  5. Updating my #Halloween sign #LibreOffice writer doc to add "other treats" as another A5 sign. It's been at least a year for any significant update, and aside from better centering (horizontal and vertical) of text, I'm attempting to make the non-food ones have a teal border instead of orange, for any #TealPumpkinProject visitors. A dual orange/teal border would be nice for "maybe", but I don't know if LO can pull that off.

  6. I know not everyone is into Halloween, but if you are, give a thought to the Teal Pumpkin Project, and if you can, make your house part of it... I've registered as a participating site... foodallergy.org/our-initiative

All kids should get to enjoy #Halloween

  7. I'm really excited to add a *sixth* option this year for #Halloween for kids to choose from. We're adding "other treats" that aim to not be super sugary, and some are arguably more salty/savory like pretzels, Pringles chips (or crisps, if you must), and goldfish crackers.

This makes 4 edible categories (chocolate with nuts, chocolate without nuts, non-chocolate, and now other), and 2 non-edible (plushies and toys/bubbles/slime).

#TealPumpkinProject is very much a part of my celebration!

  8. It works out rather nicely for me that pandemic times made unmanned candy tables socially acceptable for neighborhood #TrickOrTreating. #Introvert #Halloween

    Also, #AllergyFriendly. #TealPumpkinProject

  11. Prepping for #Halloween! 🎃 I give out candy (in a separate bowl) and also these goodie bags of non-food treats, in support of the #TealPumpkinProject, so kids with #FoodAllergies can safely trick-or-treat without worry. ❤
