Well as of last night I've completed all the required dual training hours required for a private pilot certificate. I can't begin the 10 hours of solo time requirement until I have a valid medical, and that's held up in the deferred state for the foreseeable future.

Last week the weather didn't cooperate so we're back at it today.
Power on Stall recovery, power off stall recovery, slow flight, simulated engine failure(!), pattern work, 3 landings with a little help, and 1 go around.
Can't complain about any of that ^_^

Today, I completed my first Cross Country Flight (Flight over 50 Nautical Miles).
We flew from Mason Mi to Sturgis Mi and back.

No pretty pics today, it was busy.
We did S turns, pattern work, turns around a point, and the most exciting would be the simulated engine failure which required climbing to 3500 ft, bringing the thottle to idle, then finding a place to land, and glide to it.
I definitely hesitated when he said "ok, bring it to idle"
My response was "Oh... like, right now?"
Also, my headset came in today while I was out flying, so I'll have it for tomorrow! ^_^

Choppy day today, but super fun. We did slow flight and stalls. At one point we had our ground speed down to 16mph with an airspeed of 65.
It was a nice clear day, a little hazy at altitude, but nice none the less.

Oh another random tidbit:
Flying is physical. Today I'm *sore* in my back and legs like I went to the gym.
This isn't like hopping in the car for a Sunday drive stuff. It's closer to a sport than a cruise in my newly initiated opinion.
