Zum Trans* Day of Visibility (Trans* Tag der Sichtbarkeit) fanden sich vorgestern Nachmittag rund 70 trans* Personen und Allies bei Sonne, Wind und einem bunten Fahnenmeer zu einem gemeinsamen Picknick am Bootshafen zusammen. 🌞🏳️⚧️ Neben einem leckeren Buffet, Spielen und guter Musik gab es Redebeiträge, vorgelesene Buchausschnitte und Zitate, in welchen auf verschiedene Aspekte der Sichtbarkeit von trans* Personen hingewiesen und auch persönliche Erfahrungen geteilt wurden.
Außerdem nutzten die Besucher*innen der Veranstaltung die Möglichkeit, eine große trans* Flagge mit Kommentaren und Zitaten zu bemalen, um stärkende und positive Botschaften von und für die trans* Community zu hinterlassen.
Nach etwa zweieinhalb Stunden endete mit Sinken der Sonne und Temperatur zwar die Veranstaltung, doch nicht unsere Sichtbarkeit! Egal ob laut oder leise, kämpferisch oder entspannt, wütend, traurig, fröhlich, jung oder alt—wir stehen zusammen und sagen mit Recht: Trans* sein ist wunderschön!⚧️🏳️⚧️🫂🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

In March we have observed the International Sex Workers’ Rights Day,¹ International Women’s Day,² and Trans Day of Visibility.
For the Trans Day of Visibility, ESWA has joined the video campaign of TGEU - Transgender Europe and Central Asia, centering trans voices talking about the invisibilised aspects of their lives. To highlight intersections between sex workers’ rights and trans rights, sex worker’s rights activist Ines Anttila and ESWA Director of Communication and Campaigns Wszebor Sienkiewicz sent their contributions. You can see the campaign videos on TGEU’s instagram.
Thank you everyone who joined the premiere and live stream of the community video on what sex workers wish the world knew. Being together, even in this small capacity, made the International Sex Workers’ Day on March 3rd special. For those of you who missed the video, check it out on ESWA YouTube.¹

oh, huh - apparently it's trans day of visibility again
sadly, due to widespread harassment campaigns, there has never been a more dangerous time to be a visible transfeminine person on the Internet. as such, while I'd like nothing more than to join those making themselves visible today, both the contentious nature of my social-justice-oriented writing, and the information about my "problematic" kinks that I share on here, render me a prime target for those harassment groups. so, in an effort to not make today "Trans Day of Rachel Gets Doxxed," I'll be remaining faceless on fedi.
that said, I love seeing all of your faces today, and I'm beyond pleased that fedi remains a relatively safe place for so many of my fellow sisters and siblings to be visible to the wider world.
to all the cis people out there: if you'd like to make a difference today, please donate to a trans woman or transfeminine person's crowdfunding effort if you can afford it. things are getting increasingly dangerous for us out there in the real world, too, and we can use all the help that we can get.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility! Lesser known things about transness:
- you do not have to experience dysphoria to be trans
- you do not need to "know" that you are trans your entire life
- you do not need to change your body or presentation in any way to be trans
- transfeminine people on hormones grow breasts (among many other feminizing changes)
- transmasculine people on hormones grow facial hair (among many other masculinizing changes)
- transness is different from sexuality; just like anyone else, trans people can have any kind of sexuality
- there is so much joy in transitioning and being yourself
- there is no particular look or way of being as a trans person. Sometimes online discourse flattens and narrows the apparent
trans experience to stereotypes.
