Why wont this #SuperMajority party legislate a #Tax on #GasSuperProfits when the passing of the bill is handed to the Govt on a silver platter? All that is required to fix the budget, to provide the required #SafetyNet social services and more is a #SimpleYES and it’s done. THe chances of those progressive legislations being overturned by the opposition is NIL That is unless #SpinelessAlbo persists in his #HateCampaign against the #Greens which would effectively feed a #rebellion at the next election leading to unpredictable results. I’m stupid, and I can see that coming Albo! Wasting the opportunities given to you by the electorate to shape an Australia that cares for all Australians.
“Speaking on the Australia Institute’s Follow the Money podcast, Greens leader, Senator Larissa Waters, said the party’s new “Tax the 1%” campaign was aimed at securing major reforms that target ultra-wealthy Australians and gas exporters.” (Source: https://thepoint.com.au/news/260512-if-we-dont-act-well-end-up-like-the-us-greens-leader-larissa-waters-calls-for-tax-on-the-1)

As expected, #GregJericho does not mince his words in his latest criticism of the #RBA. In fact, he shows the RBA for what it truly is, a proxy for the #BCA (Business Council of Australia), the all powerful #NeoLiberal #Lobby.
“the RBA really does not give one damn about inflation or even “inflationary expectations”. Truly – Michele Bullock has belled the cat on this now that she has admitted raising interest rates has nothing to do with inflation.
All the RBA cares about is wages growth – they do not, under any circumstances, want workers to think they should be getting a decent wage rise.
Company profits? Oh gosh, well, those need to remain strong. Bullock told reporters that companies should raise their prices to cover costs, because otherwise, in her words, “they would go bust”.

Doug Cameron’s questions are the ones I have been asking myself (and the Party — though there were no answer from them) for two years or more. It’s incomprehensible to me why a supposedly left-wing Parliamentary Caucus with a whopping majority, is so… well, center-right. And that was why I cancelled my Party membership this year.
“…Cameron’s criticism does highlight one of the defining features of the Albanese government. Labor’s historically activist wing has arguably never held so much power to shape the country; a prime minister ensconced in the Lodge, surrounded by a praetorian guard of factional allies and a majority left caucus. Labor’s own constitution describes it as a democratic socialist party. So why is it so centrist?”

Agreed. It’s not a clean solution to transport at all. It also suffers the same (actually more so) range anxiety as Battery Electric Vehicle (#BEVs ), the latter of which is being addressed with more charging points and lower charging times in the offing. It maybe cheaper to run than #FossilFuel fed Internal Combustion Engines ( #ICE) , but not as cheap as BEVs (zero cost if you have a home PV system).
Any transport technology is cheaper when govt incentives are in the mix. This was so when we builkt cars in AUS, as well as for gas powered cars and is currently so for BEVs (though the latter is waining — a crazy policy move IMO).
There are no comprehensive transport solutions to our current planetary crisis other than electrification of all transports systems in Australia. We have Sun and Wind a plenty and Batteries will soon be ubiquitous on the #Grid provided Govt(s) give up on their #Complicit and expensive support to #ExtractiveIndustries. The #ABC of all msm platforms ought to desist from giving voice to an industry that has failed Australians for decades. There never was a social licence for #Grifters, #Profiteers and despoilers of the #land that was never ceded.
There. I’ve said my piece on the matter. Thank you Susan for tooting about it.

Independent voices like Allegra Spender are actually putting serious tax reform on the table.
Shifting the burden off wages and onto wealth, tackling CGT discounts, negative gearing, and tax loopholes it’s the kind of thinking Australia has needed for years.
Real leadership is calling out a system that punishes work and rewards passive wealth and offering a fairer path forward.More of this please.
-
Australia taxes work harder than wealth and it shows. If you earn a wage, you’re slugged more than someone pulling the same income from assets. In a country that prides itself on a fair go, that’s hard to justify.
It’s time to rebalance the system so younger Australians actually have a shot at building wealth and security not just those who already have it.If you agree, tell your MP:

Plain talking from #RichardDennis (Australia Institute):
“Most of the people droning on about how red tape and regulation have made it impossible to build houses these days know less about economics than they do about how hard it is for young first home buyers. Again, we know that the number of homes is growing faster than the population, so we know the people talking about red tape are talking BS.”It’s worth reading..

I hate to belabour the point… well, actually, no I don’t. But to put some perspective into Senator #DavidPocock defeated motion to set up a Senate Committee to take a look at #GasExports, here is an interesting article from The Point (Australian Institute) that should have been tabled in the Senate along with the motion (can you do that in the Senate? I don’t know) talking about: ‘New analysis shows Japan is emerging as a major player in global gas trading, despite producing no liquefied natural gas of its own – and it’s all thanks to Australia.’
