Navigating the Void: Why Nigeria Needs a Corporate Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) Framework
In a standard DPA regime, a company that self-reports and cooperates can avoid the "corporate death penalty" of a criminal conviction. In Nigeria, we are currently forced to rely on the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015. While the ACJA provides for Plea Bargaining, it is a fundamentally different animal from a DPA: -

Funny how much noise there is about the new super tax for balances over $3 million. Less than half a percent of Aussies will ever be affected, yet it’s all over the news like it impacts everyone.
All that’s changing is the concessional tax treatment for those with more than $3 million in super-an amount most Australians won’t ever see in their accounts. You’d think the whole super system was being torn down!
Meanwhile, policies that could actually help everyday Aussies barely get a mention. Makes you wonder whose interests are really being represented in these debates.
Super was set up to give all Australians a fair go in retirement, not to be a tax shelter for the ultra-wealthy. Maybe the outrage should match the number of people actually affected?

The federal government plans to double the tax on superannuation balances over $3 million, increasing it from 15% to 30%. Although set to start on 1 July this year, it’s not yet law.
