  1. #NowReading ‘The book of dust volume three: The rose field’ by Philip Pullman.

Borrowed from #Taunton #Library. I generally don’t enjoy reading books over 300 pages, this is 621…but it’s the last in the trilogy of a second trilogy…got to be done - and I’m excited.

  2. #Somerset has launched its first electric buses as part of a £14.7m project with First Bus and Somerset Council. By summer, all 25 electric buses, including 13 single deckers and 12 double deckers, will be in service across routes in #Taunton, #Wellington, Burnham-on-Sea, #Bridgwater, and #Minehead. The project, supported by £2.2m from the Department for Transport’s ZEBRA 2 funding and £12.5m from First Bus, will see over 40% of the fleet electric, serving 40,000 passengers weekly.

The buses offer cleaner air, quieter streets, and improved accessibility, with features like USB charging points and on-screen announcements. They will operate from electrified depots in Taunton and Minehead. The buses charge in around three hours, cost £400,000 each, and have a range of 200 miles. Somerset's investment is part of its commitment to a cleaner, greener future.

  5. Walkers are Welcome Town - Wivelscombe

Wiveliscombe is a small, vibrant, friendly community on the edge of Exmoor, the Blackdown and Brendon hills and the nearby coast. There is a myriad of well maintained footpaths, some near national trails, readily reached from The Town Square.

Wiveliscombe is easily accessed and makes a visit to this little known part of Somerset well worthwhile.

  7. Pandemic Hike number 95 with Beth, Mike, Anne, and Lisa P took us to one of our top three favorite places.

And for those who don’t know, we have been doing a series of hikes since the start of the pandemic and plan to reach 100 in January.
