Worked on this cover project yesterday (on myself). I've been long wanting to cover this strange tattoo I did a long time ago when I first started learning, but haven't had the dedicated time to handpoke it. Now that I'm doing machine tattoos, also, it felt like time to sit down and get to work on this tree I've been building in my head for so long! It turned out good, I'm quite happy with it. I do think when it heals I'll go through and go even heavier on the darker tones throughout, but in the meantime I think it's fun that the old tattoo peeking through the wood grain makes it look like a toothy monster tree a little bit. I also want to go through and make the root complex below it actually look nice next time, as well, and then hopefully I'll feel satisfied with this after that!
