  4. #TatsuyaNakadai died of pneumonia in a hospital, said Naoko Ema, an actress at Mumeijuku, the theater company & acting school that Nakadai founded in Tokyo in 1975.

With his intensely expressive eyes often widened for effect, Nakadai appeared in more than 100 films over a seven-decade career. He moved easily between the blunt physicality & theatrics of Samurai sword fight movies — known as chanbara — & the more nuanced performances of domestic dramas.

  11. Starting a day with a hearbreak :( Tatsuya Nakadai. My favorite actor of all time. RIP.

There is no other actor that I gave so many 10 and 9s to. THE HUMAN CONDITION, KWAIDAN, RAN, WHEN A WOMAN ASCENDS THE STAIRS, YOJIMBO, SANJURO, HARAKIRI, HIGH AND LOW, THE FACE OF ANOTHER. He was astonishing.
