  1. had a task in Tasks.org to make a Tasks.org feature request for a combined list view, but when I went searching for pre-existing tickets, I learned that Filters accomplish this. so yay for that.

I really need to make a #TasksDotOrg video at some point, especially now that the dude is working on it full time and is building a desktop app. #TasksOrg

  6. the #TasksDotOrg dev shipped a feature I had on my list to request: per-list sorting.

this will allow me to use #TasksOrg as a routine checklist (sorted in arbitrary order) as well as a to-do list (sorted by due date).

  21. @neil I tried getting off #nextcloud sync when I was using external storage because of the catastrophic wipe-all-syncd-devices scenario if you got disconnected. Really wanted #syncthing to do the job, but there were issues with multi-user and the UI/setup isn't as normie user friendly as Nextcloud sync, IMO. Then I switched to cheap block storage and everything was gravy again. Agreed that it tries to do too much and there are a bunch of things it probably should leave to other apps, like video, chat, and photos - for that I just use other things. #immich is great, but I don't want two sync systems for files and photos so I just use Nextcloud for the Immich library. And there's still all the other great stuff - easy/user-friendly CalDav/CardDav, document sharing and collaboration, #Tasksorg integration and desktop UI, PhoneTrack app, etc, etc. So definitely sticking with Nextcloud, for now.

  23. @michal ja zastąpiłem Todoist przez #tasksorg. Synchronizacja odbywa się poprzez CalDAV z moim serwerem #Nextcloud. Wspomniane przez ciebie funkcje są obsługiwane przez tasks.org

  28. okay hmm. I've now been extensively dogfooding #TasksOrg plus #Davx5 plus #Baikal as a lightweight #CalDAV backend for a couple weeks as part of my relaunch of personal task management, and I'm starting to think this would be a great subject for a video on the Surfhosting Peertube channel.

I need to use it for a few more weeks though, because I'm still discovering things about the software and letting my usage patterns evolve.

one cool thing that I think will make this useful is that I'm using Tasks.org (which is an Android app, despite the name) in at least three ways simultaneously: for tasks which repeat every single day, for a to-do list for the current day and upcoming days, and for a to-do list for various task domains which stretch up to several months into the future.

I think this will make for a great video on how to use this admittedly complicated but very powerful #selfhosted task management system.

  33. @MichaelSpatz

  36. I #selfhost my tasks, calendars, and contacts with #baikal.

In and of itself, this works quite well.

I have issues with the tasks, though. I access them on my computers in #thunderbird, and on my #android with #davx5 and #tasksorg.

The tasks often have differing tags and due dates across devices. Changes to the description and titles seem to be consistent, though.

Is this perhaps a known shortcoming of either #caldav, baikal, DAVx5, or one of the apps? 🤔

  41. @alerque @Torx

I've been meaning to properly set up #emacs' #orgmode for that but haven't had the capacity to do so and nc tasks worked well enough (until I actually started using it to a decent capacity).

This might be precisely what you are looking for though. And I might need to just do that ig.

There's an org-mode caldav adapter that, when I looked into it, gave me the impression of "very jank but might be workable".

Maybe I could even use #orgzly instead of #Tasksorg and nix #CalDAV.
