@mpesce @theregister I too had the hunch that #recall is a basic first (standalone) step to roll out #taskMining for #rpa, however, it seems to be a very haphazard implementation missing all the details that would come up when thinking about this.
Especially as the owner of the OS.
It may be that MS did not connect the dots themselves. -

@FeralRobots While I don‘t see any aspects related to IAM I see how the general idea / promise of #recall can fit into an enterprise: #TaskMining, #RPA.
Taking screenshots for #SoxCompliance /auditors is not unheard of, either, and using “#AI“ on them seems to make sense.
Is it a good idea? I‘m not so sure. But I expect to find some mention of recall at least in the marketing context of #PowerAutomate, soon. -

For some enterprises Microsoft recall may be the one thing making Windows 11 and new hardware look like a good idea.
And I guess companies selling task mining and robotic process automation are losing some sleep now. Microsoft decided to enter this market themselves and they found a way to sell data collection as a stand alone product to everyone.#Windows11 #Microsoft #Recall #TaskMining #RoboticProcessAutomation #rpa

#Microsoft #Recall is their first step of integrating “#AI” based #TaskMining and #RoboticProcessAutomation into the OS.
Here’s a nice intro to task mining (and #RPA😀)

@evacide unfortunately, there's a third category and it goes by a cool name. There's a thing in business process management that they call #taskMining, but it is employee surveillance with the apparent goal of process optimisation. It has no consideration of privacy or trust whatsoever, and is very probably borderline illegal with respect to #GDPR. It's a brave new world out there and sales don't care that we've been here already https://www.celonis.com/process-mining/what-is-task-mining/
