My desert-people, the Tar'nex. Fun fact: They don't stop growing throughout their lives. They grow slowly, but they live several 100 years, which results in crazy size differences. They start small, like humans, and end up with up to 3 meters (~10 feet). [ #art #Tarnex #alien #monster ]

These people are called Tar'nex. They are a rather antagonistic species in my world. It doesn't mean they are the bad guys by default, but they aren't part of the Araz federation, which means encountering them is likely dangerous. . #art #TarNex #scifi #monster

Oh it's just bec I quite often avoid drawing clothes, bec I'm not good at it, bec I avoid them - this is a never ending story 😅

For this specific species (the #Darakay) it's actually very normal to wear clothes. Most common are layers of different pieces and/or thicker pieces for protection. I should learn how to draw this..

Then there are others like the #TarNex who don't wear anything at all. And the #ZhorKhat who wear bio-armor.

Sketches of my [#TarNex] - from my new sketchbook! :)

Tar'nex usually live underground as the surface of their planet is too hot to be comfortable. Although their skin (and plates) can endure sunlight over short amounts of time, their eyes are adapted to extremely low light conditions - which makes makes them blind in daylight.

The second drawing shows a protective mask to shield the eyes.

at the very least they gain a lot of experience during their life time, which can make them more reasonable - less aggressive, less impulsive. however, more knowledge can make them more dangerous too. they would seem calm and gentle at first, but they can switch very fast.

testing their strength and pushing boundaries is very common among [#TarNex]. they will never turn their backs on you and expect you to do the same.

this drawing is quite small, but I liked it, so I did the digital processing after all. actually, I wanted to test the paper. it has a slightly less smooth texture than I usually draw on. it is not bad, but also not good ^^'

my [Tar'nex] found a little #flower. plants are rare in their world.

@toxision haha that would be a great way of avoiding sleep x) however, it does not work for my tar'nex. in my imagination, their eyes are like those of snakes: no eye lids, but a thin membrane that covers their eyes for protection. so, actually they sleep with their eyes open, those creeps :D
