i got tar1090 and readsb working on my fedora switch lol. tested in-flight and everything. install was mostly straightforward but I plan on making a short blog post on getting it working because there were some small hangups i had to navigate. if it runs headless, i have 1GB of free RAM. if i use vivaldi on the switch to monitor it, there's 600MB free. i had a portable antenna in flight, but the SDR is connected to my home antenna in this picture.
next is to get ACARS working, obviously lol

Our app AirPing is now available on the app store!
If you run your own ADS-B receiver and have an iPhone, you should check it out!

#adsbfi #tar1090 #flightaware laufen seit 2 Tagen. Hier gabs nen Absturz des Systems. -
I started tracking ADS-B signals since before Thanksgiving and was hoping to see the impact of the holiday on air travel.
You sort of can, from the bit of the sky I can pick up, it's clear there's a dip on the 27th, and two spikes on the 29th and 1st.
It might be clearer if I could resample the data but I'm not too familiar with the tar1090 data format so I don't know how.

Well I did another thing today, I built up a #RPi5 to run ADS-B using a #rtlsdr, and the software consisting of #dump1090fa, #tar1090, and uploading data to #aussieadsb
Got some other bit and bobs coming like a 1090MHz BPF, as my VHF ham radio transmitter is overwhelming the SDR, and while I was at it I get a 1090MHz LNA and a buck converter so to that I can mount else where on the property with a 12V battery and solar panel.

I’ve messed with #adsb before but using #tar1090 and #graphs1090 is making me wish I would’ve found them way before tonight. Excellent open source projects!
