  1. Southern resident #KillerWhales are protected under 🇨🇦 Canada's Species at Risk Act.

Only 74 of these whales exist in the world as of 2025.

The Carney Federal "government proposed sweeping regulatory changes that would have allowed the pre-approval of development in certain "federal economic zones" and given the federal cabinet the power to exempt projects from the "jeopardy test" for species at risk."

  2. Another CBC #factcheck on Poilievre's claim that there's "'No environmental argument' against pipeline through northern B.C."

Research shows: a 64% chance of a major oil tanker spill of 10,000 barrels or more, even with improved safety standards"

  3. Poilievre once again governing for the minority, as shown by his ignorance. The tanker ban is in place to keep tankers from approaching dangerous shorelines, which are no danger to ships in international waters.

This is why conservatives can only offer bigotry as a vote getter to anyone else not in their base.

Looking forward to Marlaina Smith spitting mad over this soon.

  4. Feeling like a Ottawa-BC quid pro quo under the Alberta-Ottawa pipeline MOU.

Got a bad feeling about where the Alberta & Carney govts will be ramming the tarsands pipeline through British Columbia.

Waiting for other 🥾 to drop after this morning's announcement.

Expect more #extremeweather #heatwaves in coming years.

  5. It may be, when all the analysis is done, when the economics are weighed against the dangers, coastal Nations, Canadians, will ultimately say 'No. Keep the crude oil away'. But, it is tough to make any informed decision in a sea of misleading soundbites.

  6. On AB-Ottawa MOU: Coastal First Nations previously expressed strong opposition to an oil pipeline to the North Coast.

"Any jobs created aren't worth the environmental risk", citing human error as the cause of disasters like the sinking of the Queen of the North and a U.S. navy vessel that sank nearly 80 years ago...

"the navy vessel has still not been recovered or cleaned up and leaked fuel in 2012." ~ Gitga'at First Nation spokesperson Art Sterritt

"It's more heartbreaking to know that the lands and the waters and the beauty of British Columbia, the coastal regions is being sacrificed for oil and gas, pipelines and LNG development" ~ Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs

  7. BC Sierra Club responds to Alberta-Ottawa MOU negotiated without BC at the table: "This meaningless MOU is a transparent political ploy that holds no water with the people actually impacted by pipelines and oil spills — the First Nations...and the thousands in B.C. who want to protect the North Coast."

Canada and Alberta provide proof we truly deserved the Fossil of the Day award at COP 30.
