It is confusing because at 1st nothing is explained, but that contributes to the story by making us anxious, just like the characters. It covers 3+ stories, so a lot happens, but each adds to the theme. The info is slowly revealed. The endings may not be what we expect, but again that contributes to the film's message.

The best thing about sci-fi is that it makes us question the present & the future. This film does that beautifully, with different relationships & nice visual effects. The cast of actors is phenomenal - no disappointments there.

@heejinlee Thanks for mentioning THE GOLDEN ERA, #AnnHui's biopic of Chinese writer #XiaoHong (1911-1942). An intriguing, absorbing & moving film, with an impressive performance by #TangWei.
