Sinopsis: Beka Cooper es una joven a la que un lord sacó de la calle porque le ayudó a arrestar a una banda de malhechores. Ahora, es una de las polis novatas que van a patrullar en los barrios pobres. En una ciudad con magos y asesinos, con un jefe del gremio de Ladrones muy poco popular y mucha gente nueva llegando a la ciudad. Y unas gemas extrañas apareciendo sin saber de dónde. Y un asesino en serie que acecha a los niños como una serpiente. Ella habla con los muertos y con el polvo.
Comentario: A ver, Tamora Pierce sabe lo que hace con sus novelas. En este caso, nos encontramos con una novela en forma de diario de la poli novata con más arrestos de la ciudad. Esta ambientado mucho antes de que Alanna se saltara las convenciones sociales… que en el pasado tampoco existían tanto, porque, como sabemos, las tradiciones realmente solo tienen en cuenta el pasado reciente y en cuanto miras un poco, te hace agua por todos lados. Eso es algo con lo que juega maravillosamente, al darnos una ciudad corrupta, pero en la que vemos los mimbres de esa ciudad donde Alanna pasará buena parte de su vida.
Es interesante hablar de la corrupción de los policías, porque en esta novela deja claro que lo primero que son es gente que busca mantener la Paz del Rey en la ciudad… pero que de paso les paguen sus bonitos sobres para mantenerse, porque el rey no les paga lo suficiente, así que tendrán que sacarse un extra extorsionando a todos. Incluyendo al líder del gremio de ladrones, que les da su parte para que no vayan a por él. Además, las leyes se las saben de memoria, según se las enseñen sus mayores. Que, a ver, tampoco es tan difícil en muchas ocasiones. Y, sin embargo, ellos mismos tienen sus clases, entre los que realmente quieren mejorar la ciudad y los que simplemente quieren la paguita. Es interesante, porque, como toda la copaganda, al final te muestra que hacen más bien que mal, aunque en este libro no han tenido ni actitudes racistas, ni machistas, lo que ya es una mejora. Es más, incluso dejan claro que hay una protección para las mujeres frente a acosadores y cerdos varios. Y también que de poco sirve cuando los cerdos tienen poder.
En definitiva, es una novela entretenida, con un tinte muy juvenil y de serie de policías procedimental. Siempre es interesante ver ofertas distintas dentro de la fantasía juvenil, y tener el estilazo que tiene Tamora Pierce y el tono sarcástico que le pone a muchas cosas es siempre algo digno de ver. Si os gusta la fantasía y os apetece algo distinto, esta primera parte de la saga merece la pena. Ya os contaré, porque pienso seguir con la saga.

I've finished Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce. This was a fun short read that never got boring but also never really went very deep either. I can see this as a great introduction to the fantasy genre.

Alanna und alle #Trebond Bücher von #TamoraPierce Liebe ich, Arena war so nett mir die HCs als ReziExemplare zu schenken, Dana schenkte mir 1 Freundin, spätere kaufte ich mir (Numair muss ich noch lesen). Pierce hat sich unheimlich entwickelt, Beca Cooper und dann Trickster ist nochmal so viel besser, heute, als Alanna, Dana, Keladry damals
