My useless #MajorityLeader prediction for a 2027 Dem Senate majority: Hawai'i's #Brian Schatz. The other Dem leadership are retiring, too old, too iconoclastic, or have Presidential ambitions. #TammyBaldwin (64) is another probability as is Cortez Masto (62) but Schatz is younger (53) and is in a secure seat (won by 45% margin) than Baldwin who won by 1% or Cortez Masto (less than 1%). Schatz is a great choice and will keep climate and renewables (aina), indigenous rights (kanaka 'oiwi), elderly (kupuna) on the radar. Imua!
Schatz, I predicted in 2014, if he beat Hanabusa in that Dem primary which he did in a delayed squeaker due to a Maui storm, would be a lock on that seat forever - he's the ideal Hawai'i Senator - local boy (Punahou, like Barack), hard working, smart, stable, respectful, married to a local Kaimuki girl architect Linda Kwok Kai Yun Schatz, with two kids. He's a great choice nationally, and would cement him as Sen Dan Inouye's Hawai'i's heir. This would also be great for Alaska.
I would love my own state's Elizabeth Warren as a feisty foil to Trump, but I doubt she'd want the job. She's too smart to want that thankless job.
