As though the British military occupation of Diego Garcia in the Chagos Islands wasn't shameful enough, since 2021 dozens of Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka who arrived by boat have been detained in a tiny enclosure in tents - and the UK govt says international conventions on asylum don't apply there. Mass grave found in North-East Sri Lanka; Tamils demand international investigation
A shutdown was carried out across the North-East yesterday as Tamils across the homeland demand for an international investigation into the Kokkuthodavai mass grave.
The mass grave was discovered on June 29th by construction workers from the National Water Supply and Drainage Board prompting excavation efforts.

Sri Lankan government should 'stop stalling' and investigate human rights violations
Human Rights Watch (HRW) told the Sri Lankan government to "stop stalling and fulfill its obligation to investigate and prosecute the grave violations for which many people still suffer" in a statement marking 14 years since the Tamil genocide.
