I'm a middle-aged nerd who is running my own #sharkey instance. I make robots for a living, but I also take care of a bunch of cats and am learning how to draw. I mostly draw my own OC, Yomiko, but sometimes you'll see me drawing other things with furry ears and tails.

The Legend of Sword and Fairy, abreviado como Sword and Fairy o TLoSaF (vaya, como los #Trails. Mejor decirles así a The Legend of Heroes Trails tres cuartos y 250 caracteres más), es una franquicia que empezó en 1991 por la empresa taiwanesa #Softstar. Una empresa que no conoce ni Dios, o mejor dicho, ni Guan Yu (mejor pararé de hacer esta clase de chistes).
Este estudio, además de desarrollar esta gran IP, tiene otros tantos como #Richman o su segunda IP más grande, #XuanYuanSword, aunque de este podemos hablar en otro hilo.
Por otro lado, también se dedica a publicar juegos de estudios más pequeños que provienen de Taiwán y China, como el reciente juego de terror (bastante recomendable si os gusta #HomeSweetHome), #TheBridgeCurseRoadtoSalvation. Todos estos juegos lo podéis encontrar ya en #Steam desde que la plataforma llegó a China (gracias a ello, más juegos asiáticos se han podido comprar en occidente).

Aunque pueda parecer que simplemente creas que es un #FinalFantasy o #DragonQuest chino pensando que cada entrega es un mundo diferente, realmente puede relacionarse más como un Trails o #Ys ya que su historia sí tiene cohesión y correlación con cada título. Sin embargo, ésto fue mucho tiempo después, debido a que realmente en el lanzamiento de Sword and Fairy 2 pensaban en hacer una mundo diferente.

La saga siempre ha tenido un éxito increíble en China. Podríamos decir que es el JRPG chino más famoso de Asia, sino fuera porque existen estudios como #HoYoverse con títulos como #GenshinImpact y #HonkaiImpact3rd, u otros gacha RPGs como #PunishingGrayRaven. Aún así, fuera de la China Continental, la franquicia nunca tuvo buenas ventas (de hecho, la saga siempre se ha sostenido gracias a los chinos, como #SwordArtOnline o #Talesof, que siempre han vendido más en China que en Japón o en el resto del mundo). No fue hasta 2007, con Sword and Fairy 4, cuando volvió a tener relevancia, pero a escasas penas, ni siquiera con una localización mundial.

Su éxito fue tanto en China, que actualmente cuenta con una #Drama chino, con más de 3 temporadas y siguiendo en emisión.

Siempre, a lo largo de la historia de los videojuegos, hemos intentando clasificar o etiquetar cada uno para distinguirlo de cierto grupo de obras que difieren mucho en sus mecánicas. De este modo, los jugadores de, por ejemplo: Simulación de conducción, tendrían más facilidad de encontrar juegos de géneros similares que también les gustase. De esta forma, surgió el género #RPG, una categoría para aquellos jugadores que les encantaba los juegos de mesa de rol como D&D, pero... ¡en un ordenador! Aunque... con extremas limitaciones...

El primer videojuego para consolas considerado como el primer RPG es #DragonStomper, para la #Atari 2600, y bueno... también podríamos considerarlo como el primer #WRPG de toda la historia por ser hecho en Estados Unidos. Sin embargo, Asia no se quedó atrás, y ese mismo año se lanzó en Japón #DragonAndPrincess para la NEC PC-88, aún así, Dragon & Princess no sería considerado un #JRPG hasta mucho tiempo después.

Asímismo, como podéis ver, el primer WRPG y JRPG de la historia no difieren entre sí. Ambos podría decirse que, por culpa de las limitaciones de la época, el diseño de niveles era muy similar, siendo DragonStomper el título que se centraría en la "exploración" y Dragon & Princess en un sistema de combate "más profundo" (para lo que les dejaba la época, claro).

No sería hasta finales de los 80s y principio de los 90s cuando los WRPG y los JRPG se bifurcarían en ideas, tradiciones, culturas, sistemas y se alejarían del #CRPG clásico (juegos de rol por computadora). Saliendo durante todo el periódo de décadas diferentes #ARPG y #SRPG (juegos de rol de acción y juegos de rol de estrategia).

#DragonQuest, #FinalFantasy y #PhantasyStar serían los encargados de llevar a los JRPG a un nivel diferente de los juegos de rol occidentales, triunfando más tarde la franquicia de #MegamiTensei y llegando a mitad de los 90s #Talesof.

Me encantan los #WRPG / #JRPG, además del #Terror y la buena narrativa. Pero como dije antes, suelo jugar a cualquier género 🕹️

La música que más suelo escuchar es el #Drumandbass, el #Phonkpunk y cualquier música de género electrónico que me agrade, y las bandas sonoras 🎶
