Kottke's second album, following 12-String Blues, and what would become reportedly the best-selling LP on John Fahey's Takoma Records. Writing his own liner notes, Kottke writes "All that is left to be said is that Kottke's voice does not appear on this album. His guitar does." It’s strange to be in a place - physically and mentally - where I’m neither always looking for The Mountain, nor on constant alert for The Big One.
#Illinois is flat and the trees are bare, but plentiful are the sun…and the stability of the earth.
Of course, snow and cold are, too. And I saw a storm siren today, a reminder that tornadoes happen here. But I’m visiting part of my chosen family, surrounded by their warmth.

When they said, “#PugetSound is built on #Rainier’s mudflows,” I didn’t realize they meant that there was no land where Tacoma, Kent, Auburn, and Renton currently are before the colossal #OsceolaMudflow filled in those parts of Puget Sound 5600 years ago.
