  1. The tagfinder.osm.ch is back online, after a couple of months of downtime.

    Have you ever tried it?

The service is similar to #TagInfo, but simpler, and allows you to search for relevant tags to use in #OpenStreetMap.

  2. Oooo, when did #taginfo change its UI? Liking the treemap on the tag overview tab.

  3. A fellow #OpenStreetMap contributor shared this photo they took of an encounter with a pack of dogs, who ran after them -- the dogs faces blurred kindly by #Mapillary. 😁

    Stay safe, when photo-mapping everyone.

I thought this might be a case for hazard=dogs, and #taginfo reports several possible options: taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys

    hazard=loose_aggressive_dogs sounds just right. 😆

  4. #Taginfo is one of the many helpful tools in the #OpenStreetMap ecosystem.

Do you know that you can compare multiple tags side-by-side with it?

  6. Oops. 50 out of 170 entries in the #taginfo project listings are from #MapComplete ...

Which also means that MapComplete now has 50 individual thematic maps... Didn't realize it's this much already!

  7. @AndreasSebayang falls du Mal n Android Smartphone mit #NFC #TagInfo in der Nähe hast, gerne n Screenshot was das für ein Kartentyp ist

  9. Have you ever mapped shared driveways in #OpenStreetMap?

The OSM wiki definition [0] is that it is "driveway leads away from a main road toward several houses, each with their own shorter driveways.

#taginfo reports that the most popular way to tag these shared driveways (aka pipestems) is highway=service + service=pipestem

My own observation from local data is that these shared driveways are often tagged as "residential" instead of service.

  10. According to #taginfo, the geographical distribution of the key "not:name".

So, are users from other countries, more often than not, spelling names correctly? 😅

  11. Do you know that the #OpenStreetMap #taginfo service provides an interesting chronology of tag usage?

In this particular case, the graph shows how improving documentation leads to wider use.

It's not even an "approved" tag.
