I wonder what happened there
it's such a quick scene, lasting like, 2 seconds, I'm sure a lot of people missed it
but...it immediately stood out to me
I suspect caine always knew, as he gave the bodies fitting the people
jax was summoned, and tried to remove headset, classic
jax had the body of a girl, the same purple arms (possibly just bc that's "jax's arms", to be more obvious and because that's the self-image jax has of themselves by now) hugging own body, but, flesh-colored legs, cute purple shoes, etc
he had a breakdown, due to failing to process it
caine fixed it, to stop her from abstracting right away
jax THEN had time to actually look in the mirror, seeing the self we know and love to hate, and reacting with muted indifference
...
whether it was caine trying to do yet another adventure, like w pomni, I kinda doubt...but even if it was...those were never quite random now, were they? chaotic for sure, but not quite random
...
but this reaction, would likely be what tipped ribbit over in the right direction, in the "saying things while not quite saying things" part, whether it was "just an adventure", or "whoops, lemme correct the body real quick" doesn't matter quite as much as the reaction, imo

Thinking about digital circus abstraction and Madoka Witches parallel...
