  1. Tafelberg Road, Cape Town with Platteklip Kloof [Gorge] rising to the top of Table Mountain.
The kloof is the easiest, safest and most boring way to cl8mb the mountain. The route is a zig zag stepped path that rises and the higher you the less you can see as the kloof closes in on you.
On top Cape Town stretches out around you and you realise that the view is worth the boredom of the climb

  5. Rock Kestrel

While walking along a road that runs along a contour halfway up Table Mountain we came across this beauty.

  8. Fire on Table Mountain

A fire broke out on the front slopes of Table mountain.

Fortunately the South Easter gale had subsided and they could bring the helicopters in.

The helicopters circled picking up water from a local reservoir

  9. Taken at sunset on the slopes of Table Mountain this is a Wagon Tree. It is a member of the protea family (Protea Nitida) and indigenous to the Fynbos Biome
It gets its name from the fact that it produced wood strong enough to repair the ox wagons used by early settlers.

  10. Still on the road. Shot this pic in the morning. A lot of people will probably recognise this iconic mountain.

If you don't know, this is Table Mountain shot from the Bloubergstrand side.

Now imagine what the European explorers must have thought when they sailed around the Cape the first time.

  12. In the afternoon of the first full day in #BannauBrycheiniog, we travelled to #Crickhowell or #Crughywel to climb #TableMountain, which is also the location of an #IronAge #fort. So, equipped with my #OrdnanceSurveyMap we made steady progress up the slopes, on #roads and then #footpaths, often across #farmland. The total walk was 12.5 km.

Approaching the summit, you can see that the area is covered with #ferns.
