Installed #debian 13 on my #T480s a few weeks ago. Runs totally fine, no issues. But I got comments that my mic was sounding horrible during calls. Started to look into sound settings; pipewire, pulseaudio, that stuff.
Luckily, before I really changed anything, I looked at my sound settings. Turns out the input volume of the mic was set to 100%. I assume that is the default as I had not touched them before.
Turned it back to around 50% and all is sounding fine.

Thanks all! Just ordered a refurbished #t480s. Hope it’s better than the terrible X220 that’s sitting in a drawer. It has an IPS display, so can’t be worse than the TFT on my #x220. 🙂 I’ve got 30 days to try it out, so that’s good.

Anyone manage to get a #WAN #modem (#LTE for# 4G) on #Lenovo #ThinkPad #T480 or #T480s working under #Linux especially #nixOS ? (so you can insert a #SIM in the SIM slot and use the #cellular network directly for mobile internet without using WiFi nor your smartphone as a hot-spot). Thinking of #retrofitting one... but want to know if there is any point under Linux. Thanks!

My internet #broadband #latency of 70 ms on the #ThinkPad #T480s running #nixos and using #firefox is seemingly pants. The #iPad pro has 8ms . What hardwear factors determine this number and is there an upgrade one can do the the ThinkPad hardwear or softwear ? Or is this number determined by the browser performance? Does the number matter? (I just don´t like it when #apple stuff is clearly vastly better .....) #thinkpadt480s

which did not work for my nixOS #t480s trying to set up #meshtastic on #lilygo #tdeck #lilygotdeck . I seem to remember I always have to go to my windows machine to flash stuff... e.g. #RaspberryPi #sd . -

#Baseus 100W #powerbank plugged into #T480s #laptop #usbc port, when T480s is in use, does not charge T480s to max and then go flat but both power bank and laptop end up at low #charge after a while e.g. 2 hours (power bank at 18% and laptop at 45%) Does this make any sense? Does one have to charge laptop from powerbank while laptop not in use to get laptop to be at 100% when powerbank is low / empty .... meaning powerbank does not simulate a mains charge. Is this just this powerbank or always?

My 2nd hand #t480s has truly pants #battery life but is a lovely machine. The battery life is just about good enough that I should not complain ... but what I want is a thing that clips onto the base and powers it via a really stable short usbc cable directly from the side from the case. I am thinking that something like this https://amzn.eu/d/b6IgJ0B
but built into a 3D printed base that docks onto the laptop. Any ideas? -

#T480s I was surprised to find that #cleaning the matt non-touch #laptop #screen was easy & safe using a damp corner of optical grade microfiber cloth (https://amzn.eu/d/h70LdS1). I wiped the dirty locations with the damp corner & dried it immediately with the dry portion of the cloth. If there were streaks then I repeated it with more of the damp corner, or an even damper corner, & dried the regions again with lots of fast, immediate, & repeat dry wiping till streaks were gone. Screen seems A1.

#nixos on lenovo #t480s The #bitwarden and #authy apps fail to show the full gui when run from icon on desktop. One gets a window frame but nothing in it. This problem appeared after a few weeks, not from the outset. Anyone else get this? Never had this on ubutnu.

#Lenovo #T480s with #Acer 27 inch. flat #VG270U LCD #display #monitor has #faulty display, see image. What is the cause ? Display works fine from Dell Latitude 5400. Lenovo T480s drives 38inch #LG #38WK95C monitor fine from usb c thunderbolt port when bios set to prioritise usb c. T480s bios set to prioritise hdmi when getting the fault shown. For the image below the refresh rate was set to be that of the Lenovo (else no signal).
