I am a T-Mobile customer, which means that today I have no cellular network coverage. That's lasted pretty much all day so far and I've heard nothing about when it might be back.
Actually, I'd heard nothing from the vendor about the problem at all. I'd spent half an hour debugging my phone when it finally occurred to me to check the carrier. Ugh.

Apparently the #TMobile network is experiencing widespread outages in the US. I love* that in 2026, a major ISP still has no clear communication of its service outages on its website, or any obvious place to go for service status, and instead directs you to go to one of their physical store locations for more information.
* Sarcasm, I actually hate this.

T-Mobile knows who I am but they don't know who those #threads that are doing work are. I connect to the internet through #T-mobile. I turn on the #VPN. Any job originating from my machine is no longer visible to T-Mobile as originating from the #IP address that they assigned to me.

A friend butt-dialed me at 01:00 last night. It diverted to voice mail, which recorded a minute of muffled background noises. T-Mobile's amazing "A.I." then transcribed its audio hallucination in Hiragana, which makes perfect sense because I was in Japan with my phone a little over 2 years ago. We live in an age of wonders!

In January 2025, the WA attorney general sued T-Mobile over a data breach that affected 2M residents (this was the 79M T-Mobile breach). One of the issues in the litigation was that T-Mobile didn't properly notify those affected of the breach -- it omitted telling them in SMS notifications that their SSN had been acquired.

Now a court has agreed with the state that the text message notifications did not comply with the state's breach notification law:

Moral of the story seems to be that one's perpetual license lasts only as long as the company from which you purchase it does, or until it gets sold to another company -- if THAT long.
As someone who has bought digital products under "lifetime" deals, I note here that I am still alive, but most of these products are not.
Let the buyer beware, unless you're T-Mobile and can afford an expensive law suit.

I have a 2nd Gen #Apple #iPhone SE and around June 1st it started randomly dying (i.e. I have bars, but the “LTE” keeps flickering on/off and I can’t call, text, or use apps). But now I’m back from Canada and my phone worked fine over there 🤔
UPDATE: I finally got the “Could not activate cellular data network” problem fixed! 🙌 It was apparently a physical SIM card problem (but only within the U.S.; I had the same issue in the Bay Area) that went away once #TMobile set me up with an eSIM.

Some doofus put my email on their T-Mobile account and now T-Mobile is sending me all their account emails. When I contacted T-Mobile & asked them to stop emailing me they said they can't do that unless the account holder goes in-person to one of their stores.
