Moral of the story seems to be that one's perpetual license lasts only as long as the company from which you purchase it does, or until it gets sold to another company -- if THAT long.
As someone who has bought digital products under "lifetime" deals, I note here that I am still alive, but most of these products are not.
Let the buyer beware, unless you're T-Mobile and can afford an expensive law suit.

I have an old #Apple #iPhone SE and around June 1st it started randomly dying (i.e. I have bars, but the “LTE” keeps flickering on/off and I can’t call, text, or use apps). But now I’m back from Canada and my phone worked fine over there, so I’m suspecting that it’s a #TMobile issue in #PDX… Is anyone else running into a similar problem?

Some doofus put my email on their T-Mobile account and now T-Mobile is sending me all their account emails. When I contacted T-Mobile & asked them to stop emailing me they said they can't do that unless the account holder goes in-person to one of their stores.

Nowy iOS 27 wreszcie cywilizuje SMS-y z Androidem. Szkoda, że w Polsce ta funkcja to wciąż fikcja
Wymiana wiadomości między użytkownikami Apple i Androida przez lata przypominała technologiczne średniowiecze. To się zmienia, ale nie do końca tak, jakbyśmy sobie tego życzyli.
Otrzymywanie zdjęć w jakości kalkulatora i tekstowych opisów zamiast zwykłych reakcji emoji irytowało niemal każdego. Najnowsza beta systemu iOS 27 ostatecznie eliminuje te problemy, w pełni otwierając się na ulepszony standard RCS. Jest jednak jeden haczyk – przez opieszałość polskich telekomów, posiadacze iPhone’ów nad Wisłą mogą o tych ułatwieniach na razie tylko pomarzyć.
iOS 27 wprowadza porządek w wątkach
Apple nie zwalnia tempa we wdrażaniu nowej jakości komunikacji na linii iOS-Android. Druga wersja testowa systemu iOS 27 przynosi nowości, na które użytkownicy czekali bardzo długo. Najważniejszą z nich jest obsługa bezpośrednich odpowiedzi (inline replies) w mieszanych konwersacjach. Wystarczy długo przytrzymać dymek czatu na ekranie, aby stworzyć spójny wątek, który bez błędów wyświetli się również u odbiorcy z systemem operacyjnym od Google.
Rozwiązano też najbardziej denerwujący mankament komunikacji międzyplatformowej. Zamiast zasypywać skrzynkę dziwnymi SMS-ami o treści typu „Użytkownik polubił Twoje zdjęcie”, system nareszcie zacznie normalnie przypinać reakcje emoji do właściwych wiadomości. Te wszystkie usprawnienia są efektem wdrożenia kolejnych elementów specyfikacji RCS Universal Profile 2.7.
Polski beton komunikacyjny. Dlaczego to u nas nie działa?
I w tym miejscu docieramy do ściany, a dokładniej do oporu ze strony polskich operatorów komórkowych. Choć standard RCS to w dużym skrócie nowoczesny, darmowy przesył zaawansowanych wiadomości przez internet, właściciele iPhone’ów w Polsce są z niego całkowicie odcięci. Z technicznego punktu widzenia smartfony Apple są na to oprogramowanie gotowe, ale rodzime sieci – Orange, Play, Plus i T-Mobile – wciąż ociągają się z wdrożeniem odpowiednich certyfikatów dla urządzeń z iOS.
Sytuacja stała się na tyle kuriozalna i uciążliwa dla konsumentów, że w sprawę musieli zaangażować się urzędnicy. Ministerstwo Cyfryzacji oficjalnie naciska na krajowe telekomy, domagając się sprawnego odblokowania standardu RCS na sprzęcie z logo nadgryzionego jabłka. Jak dotąd twardych efektów brak, a operatorzy nie śpieszą się z podawaniem konkretnych terminów, zasłaniając się skomplikowanym procesem certyfikacji.
Paradoks Androida: tam wszystko działa bez łaski
Zapewne zastanawiasz się teraz, dlaczego twój znajomy z Samsungiem czy Motorolą bez problemu wysyła wyraźne zdjęcia przez RCS od kilku dobrych lat. Odpowiedź kryje się w bezkompromisowym podejściu do infrastruktury. Firma Google w pewnym momencie straciła cierpliwość do powolnych telekomów i wzięła sprawy we własne ręce. Przekierowała ruch ze swoich aplikacji na własne, globalne serwery Jibe, całkowicie omijając lokalne ograniczenia operatorów.
Apple wybrało z kolei bardziej oficjalną, ale też dłuższą drogę autoryzacji u każdego dostawcy komórkowego z osobna. Zanim więc jesienią z entuzjazmem pobierzesz finalną aktualizację do iOS 27, by wreszcie normalnie popisać z użytkownikami Androida, musisz uzbroić się w cierpliwość. Dopóki polskie sieci komórkowe nie odrobią lekcji, kapitalne nowości z Cupertino pozostaną u nas bezużyteczną obietnicą.

I had to call T-Mobile this morning to resolve the last of the issues from the recent major internet outage. The first agent was great but had to hand off to a specialist. She was great too. A wild, fun woman with a strong New York accent, like something from a TV show.
I, of course, have no detectable accent. I get told that all the time. 🤣
The provider had anticipated these calls and had emailed a special number that got me right through.

We've had the 5G wireless home Internet activated for 6 days now. The meter shows usage at 105 gigs. All that over cellular?
Is it the same cellular as phones use or is there some special system?
I remember my first few cellular plans had such little data included. How capacity has grown.
