I thought sugaring season was over so I went to take my taps out and there were four gallons of sap in the buckets! Recent freezing nights must have restarted the flow. It will make light amber syrup but I don't care. It's still a bonus. I can use it to sweeten cocktails or make candy. I'm grateful to nature for this gift. #maple #syrup #sugar #trees #nature

CF Premiere: Ruary – Syrup [NATIVO]

Nativo is a record label and event promoter specializing in dance music. Founded in 2020 by Roliva, Fausto, and Prince Terrible, it emerged to create a safe, equitable, and conscious space for those involved in the entertainment world and to respond directly to the structural inequalities present in the music industry.

Today, the label focuses on expanding its catalog and strengthening its series of releases, working closely with its roster while seeking new talents within the electronic scene. For its latest release, the spotlight turns to northern Mexico. In a territory where the land stretches endlessly and silence seems almost sentient, Chihuahua holds secrets time has yet to unravel. Known for phenomena such as the Zone of Silence and the Coyame incident—often referred to as the “Mexican Roswell”—this landscape of mystery becomes the symbolic backdrop for the project making its debut on the label.

Ruary, originally from this region, is a sonic explorer whose trajectory dates back to the early 2000s. His engagement with electronic music has intertwined with photography and design, establishing him as a key figure within the Temblor/Epicentro collective, a northern talent incubator featuring artists such as Enjanzea2 and Zhino.

The EP unfolds as an altered state of perception: restrained psychedelia, mental landscapes, and lysergic atmospheres that develop gradually. Rhythms stretch, measures breathe, and a restless yet steady percussion guides the journey. Acid arpeggios and spectral pads hover in layered formations, shaping a space where time dissolves and reorganizes itself.

There's a guy over the way that reminds me of "syrupy Sid", a guy that lived down from my Mum & Dad who was an ex-fireman with what I always thought were a selection of wigs on his head as on certain days he just wore a baseball cap and no hair could be seen at all below that cap line so I used to imagine this was wig-rest or wig wash day.

After a couple of rather spectacular failures due to not paying attention, I have #syrup from the single black #maple I tapped very late in this year's season, out of curiosity. If the weather forecast holds, I should get another batch before the sap stops running.
