Symbolism

How important is it??

Until recently I did not thing too much about Symbolism. My only reference to this was the symbols my father and his Religion told me were evil, then the Mark of the Beast was a big thing with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Then after the Epstein files I saw that, perhaps, just perhaps this symbolism thing is very important. Started checking on what symbols the Epstein people are using. The REAL Satanists. That was interesting indeed. By some chance this research led back to my other research, the Scots and further back, the Pics. Now they tell me the Pics have THE oldest Rock Carvings in the world, by bloody far, make out Bushman Rock Art look almost brand new! And. In there I found a few symbols used by the Christian Church.

Then, today I see on the big screen in the NG Church, a logo that interested me no end. I even went to the Sound Engineer lady and asked who made that logo!??? Head Office in Pretoria. I took a shot of the big screen and the logo.

This is a version of the Celtic Knotted Tree, modified only slightly. Ja. And. If you click on the church link, you will see the design of their official logo. Don’t tell me yo cannot see the Knotted Tree’s basic design.

Well, that is my quick look at this, I am sure I will come back to it.

Since I confessed my enjoyment of em dash in my writing last week, I started using them more freely. On a Mac, it’s Option Shift Hyphen, as Sasha would tell you. In Linux, it’s a bit more involved: Ctrl Shift U to bring up a search for Unicode number reference, and then the number for em dash: 2014.

Or you could press altgr + dash, if you have additional typographical characters on level 3 enabled. Or Compose, dash, dash, dash otherwise 🐱☕

Over the past few days a lot of people have shared this new open source symbol-based color identification system as design augmentation/accessibility toolkit for addressing color vision deficiencies:

The same underlying additive symbolic system approach can also be used for a whole lot of other domains:

2. Assign/design a matching set of modular symbols

Possible use cases: Character or biological feature traits, taste profiles/preferences, permission systems, material or product properties...

Η Πυθαγορική Τετρακτύς

«Οι λεγόμενοι Πυθαγόρειοι καταπιάστηκαν πρώτοι με τα μαθηματικά, και όχι μόνο τα ανέπτυξαν αλλά, καθώς αυτά τους έγιναν δεύτερη φύση, θεώρησαν ότι οι αρχές τους είναι αρχές των όντων» Μετά τα Φυσικά, Αριστοτέλης

Για τους Πυθαγόρειους, οι αριθμοί είναι η αρχή των όντων…

Η Πυθαγόρεια αριθμολογία θα αποτελέσει έναν από τους ακρογωνιαίους λίθους της Πυθαγόρειας φιλοσοφίας. Μυστήριο, βάθος, κοσμογονία, εξέλιξη, λογική, άνθρωπος, καθημερινότητα, όλα συνδυάζονται στην καρδιά αυτής.

Οι Πυθαγόρειοι δεν θεωρούσαν τους αριθμούς κενές και αφηρημένες εξωτερικές μορφές των όντων, όπως η σημερινή μαθηματική σκέψη. Υποστηρίζουν ότι τα όντα, κατά την εσωτερική ουσία τους, είναι αριθμοί, και οι αριθμοί αυτοί αποτελούν το ουσιαστικό περιεχόμενο των όντων.

Μέσα από την κατανόηση των αριθμών μπορεί να γίνει κατανοητή η ουσία του κόσμου, γι’αυτό και θεωρούσαν ότι ο αριθμός θεωρείται η βάση τη συγγένειας μεταξύ θεών και ανθρώπων.

Ίσως το κομμάτι της πυθαγόρειας αριθμολογίας που επηρέασε περισσότερο τους μετέπειτα φιλοσόφους ήταν η έννοια της Τετρακτύος. Τι ήταν ωστόσο η Τετρακτύς; Σε μια πρώτη ανάλυση είναι το άθροισμα των τεσσάρων πρώτων αριθμών: 1+2+3+4=10

Ο αριθμός 1 θεωρείται το Άναρχο Ον, το πνεύμα, ο αιθέρας, η ενέργεια-δύναμη-βούληση από την οποία όλα εκπορεύονται. Με την προσθήκη μιας δυάδας στη μονάδα ο κόσμος λαμβάνει μορφή. Με τη δυαδικότητα γεννιέται η πρώτη αντίφαση, εφόσον το 2 είναι το άμεσο αντίθετο του 1. Ο δυαδισμός έχει ξεκινήσει! Η δυάδα συνδέεται με τη θηλυκή ενέργεια, την απεριόριστη γονιμότητα, τη μήτρα από όπου όλα θα γεννηθούν.

Με τον ιερό αριθμό 3, ο κόσμος μέσα από τη διάνοια αποκτάει διάσταση. Το τρίγωνο, η απλούστερη μορφή των όντων γεννιέται. Αρχή, μέση και τέλος στη δημιουργία γίνονται γέννηση, ζωή, θάνατος. Αυτό το μοτίβο της τριαδικής θεότητας το συναντάμε σε όλες τις θρησκείες και τα εσωτερικά συστήματα ανά τους πολιτισμούς. Ο λόγος, η μονάδα, το πνεύμα που διαποτίζεται από ζωή, αγάπη και ενέργεια και καταλήγει στη δημιουργία.

Ο ιερός αριθμός 4 έρχεται να κλείσει, να ολοκληρώσει το τετράγωνο, φτιάχοντας τον στέρεο κυβικό κόσμο. Οι Πυθαγόρειοι ορκίζονταν στην τετρακτύ, καθώς εξέφραζε για αυτούς ολόκληρο το σύμπαν και αποτελούσε την πηγή της αιώνιας φύσης.

Μέσα από την απίστευτη ηθική διαύγεια στην οποία μας οδηγούν τα Χρυσά Έπη του Πυθαγόρα, βλέπουμε ότι η Τετρακτύς αποτελούσε για εκείνους πηγή καθημερινής σοφίας και έμπνευσης. Μέσα σε αυτήν είχαν βρει την αρμονία για να μπορέσουν να ζήσουν και να ενώσουν μια καθημερινή ζωή με μια κοσμική ζωή, εντάσσοντας τους εαυτούς τους στο σύνολο της φύσης, μη διαχωρίζοντας λοιπόν τον εαυτό τους από το συνολικό πανόραμα της εκδήλωσης.

Το βαθύτερο μυστήριο ξεφεύγει από μια απλή καθημερινή ανθρώπινη σκέψη. Σύμφωνα με τον Θέωνα του Σμυρναίου λέγεται ότι υπάρχουν 11 διαφορετικές τετράδες οι οποίες έχουν διαφορετική σημασία μεταξύ τους, με τη θεμελιώδη να είναι αυτή που πρωτοαναφέρθηκε. Άλλη αποτελείται από τα τέσσερα στοιχεία της φύσης: γη, νερό, αέρας, φωτιά, ενώ μια ακόμα αποτελείται από γεωμετρικές προόδους με λόγο το 2 (1,2,4,8) και το 3 (1,3,9,27) αντίστοιχα.

Η ανάλυση ωστόσο ξεφεύγει από τις δυνατότητες αυτού του άρθρου, μιας και αναζητάμε σε λίγες λέξεις την καρδιά της Πυθαγόρειας φιλοσοφίας, μιας φιλοσοφίας που συγκλόνισε όλη την μετέπειτα ιστορία της ανθρώπινης σκέψης.

Αναζητώντας την τετρακτύ…

Η τετρακτύς μέσα από το έργο του Λάο Τσε και τη σοφία της Ανατολής

«Το Ταό γέννησε το Ένα · το Ένα γέννησε τη δυαδικότητα · τα δύο γέννησαν την τριάδα· τα τρία γέννησαν όλα όσα υπάρχουν.» Ταο Τε Τζινγκ

Τι είναι αυτή η τετρακτύς; Σύμφωνα με εξηγήσεις που δίνονται στο Ταο, αναφερόμαστε στην κοσμογονία, μια κοσμογόνια μέσω των ιερών αριθμών του Πυθαγόρα. Το Ένα είναι ο αρχέγονος αιθέρας, ή αλλιώς το Όλον, το Ον, ο Θεός, ή όπως αλλιώς επιθυμεί ο καθένας, που διαχωρίστηκε στις δύο δημιουργικές αρχές γιν και γιανγκ (σκοτάδι και φως, αρσενικό και θηλυκό, θέρμη και ψύχος). Με την ένωση αυτών των δύο δημιουργήθηκε η Τριάδα και από αυτήν όλος ο κόσμος.

Σε ένα ηθικό – φιλοσοφικό κλειδί ερμηνείας μέσα από το έργο του Καζαντζάκη

«Ερχόμαστε από μια σκοτεινή άβυσσο· καταλήγουμε σε μια σκοτεινή άβυσσο· το μεταξύ φωτεινό διάστημα το λέμε Ζωή. Ευτύς ως γεννηθούμε, αρχίζει και η επιστροφή· ταυτόχρονα το ξεκίνημα και ο γυρισμός·κάθε στιγμή πεθαίνουμε. Γι’ αυτό πολλοί διαλάλησαν σκοπός της ζωής είναι ο θάνατος.

Μα κι ευτύς ως γεννηθούμε, αρχίζει και η προσπάθεια να δημιουργήσουμε, να συνθέσουμε, να κάμουμε την ύλη ζωή· κάθε στιγμή γεννιούμαστε. Γι’ αυτό πολλοί διαλάλησαν: Σκοπός της εφήμερης ζωής είναι η αθανασία.» Ασκητική

Έτσι ξεκινάει η ασκητική του Καζαντζάκη… Μέσα από αυτό το μυστήριο, μέσα από το νόμο των κύκλων· το σημείο που δημιουργεί τη ζωή και επιστρέφει πάλι στον εαυτό του. Η τετρακτύς που εκδηλώνεται και έχει μέσα της κρυμμένη τη ζωή, την εκδήλωση, και τη επιστροφή. Όπως ένα άστρο… ξεκινάει από ύλη σε λανθάνουσα κατάσταση σε μορφή αστρόσκονης, συνεχίζει σε έναν πρωτοαστέρα μέχρι εξελικτικά να καταλήξει πάλι σε μια έκρηξη-θάνατο και επιστροφή στην αρχική κατάσταση.

Ας αναζητήσουμε λοιπόν αυτό το υπέροχο μυστήριο της ύπαρξης που λέγεται ζωή… που λέγεται θάνατος… Γι’ αυτό πολύ διαλάλησαν, γι αυτό πολύ διαλάλησαν…

Bugs Bunny Against the Machine. The monolithic factory symbolized by the staccato dissonant arpeggio repeated in common time. The Trickster throws a spanner into the works of capitalism and forces his truce upon the State from the bottom up.

Bugs Bunny In Drag taught me so much about the gender straightjacket, about men and lust. Benny Hill hit the same bullseye but with nary a single grain of the same wisdom. Nor of subtlety. Eyelashes and lipstick work even better than bare breasts.
